I’ve fallen into a deep gaming rut lately. What helped “get you back into” gaming and rediscover the magic of video games?

I, like many gamers, grew up playing Pokémon Red and Nintendo 64 and was obsessed with Nintendo products. I graduated to a PS2 and PS3 and became super into Metal Gear Solid and Call of Duty and Fallout. Also spent a ton of time with the Guitar Hero series. I loved the escape gaming brought me and it genuinely helped me relax....

There are moments in Outer Wilds that left me grinning like a child. It hits at that same time of wonder I felt playing ocarina of time when I was very young

It's a recent one, but the first time I entered Giant's Deep in Outer Wilds. I have a pretty big fear/anxiety of the ocean and meteorological objects in large sizes (strange one but I feel sick and get vertigo looking up at large clouds). I also find gas giants to be eerie in general.

The first time entering the atmosphere I was sweating so hard, I had to take a shower. No horror game where the main intention is to scare me has ever given me that feeling before. I've only felt that kind of stress when I played RE Nemesis on the PS1 as a young child. The Jeff chapter in Half Life Alyx also came pretty close to that feeling.

I might be a masochist, because I want to experience that again.

Anyone else enjoying the Internet better, now that they’re off Reddit?

Hadn’t realized how reliant upon Reddit I’d become for news and interesting things until after it turned to shit and I quit it. I’ve rediscovered RSS for ex., using reader apps to scan sources directly and read without all the noise—that actually came from someone’s recommendation here in the comments. I’ve found...

There are an estimated 400 billion stars in the milky way galaxy and an estimated 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. It would not be reasonable or even possible to give every star a unique alphabetical name even for all the known languages in history.

My local football club I support had a father's day promotion, but a couple weeks beforehand they sent out an email allowing people to opt out. Really nice to see

Because it's part of the fediverse. Like how you can read Mastodon posts on Kbin.

ReVanced has a few patches for it, most importantly general ad removal. I imagine there'll be more soon, hopefully ones which makes the UX better.
