This Man Has The Ear Of Billionaires — And A White Supremacist Past He Kept A Secret (www.huffpost.com)

Richard Hanania, a prominent conservative writer, used the pseudonym Richard Hoste in the early 2010s to write racist articles supporting white supremacy and eugenics. He argued that Black people are inherently less intelligent and more prone to crime than white people. Though he has moderated his rhetoric, Hanania still...

Holy shit, this is beyond fucking vile:

After all, he had years of practice writing about eugenics as Richard Hoste, advocating for precisely those types of policies.

“The maintenance of the quality of the population requires not just a stable population at all levels but the active weeding out of the unfit,” Hoste wrote in 2011 for Counter-Currents, the white supremacist site.

“There is no rational reason,” he wrote, “why eugenics can’t capture the hearts and minds of policy makers the way it did 100 years ago.”

To make matters worse:

Hanania has his own podcast, too, interviewing the likes of Steven Pinker, the famous Harvard cognitive psychologist, and Marc Andreessen, the billionaire software engineer. Another billionaire, Elon Musk, reads Hanania’s articles and replies approvingly to his tweets. A third billionaire, Peter Thiel, provided a blurb to promote Hanania’s book, “The Origins of Woke,” which HarperCollins plans to publish this September. In October, Hanania is scheduled to deliver a lecture at Stanford.

For those you wanting to make a statement regarding publishing and promoting Nazi filth, here's the link to contact the Stanford Ombudsman, the Harvard Ombdusman and here's the contact info for Harper Collins Publishing:

EPA Approved a Fuel Ingredient Even Though It Could Cause Cancer in Virtually Every Person Exposed Over a Lifetime (www.propublica.org)

An EPA document shows that a new Chevron fuel ingredient has a lifetime cancer risk more than 1 million times higher than what the agency usually finds acceptable — even greater than another Chevron fuel’s sky-high risk disclosed earlier this year.

There is an international fascist movement. It is not quite accurate to call it Putinism, but that’s a start. It keeps showing up like a pathogenic fungus in different countries, but often with the same poisonous doctrines:

  • Your country is great because of your ethnic group.
  • There are some Rejects From Elsewhere who keep wanting to get into your country to steal the stuff that your ethnic group has made.
  • There is a Great Leader who is willing to speak the Forbidden Truths about your ethnic group’s awesomeness.
  • The Deep State Woke Eurocrats hate your ethnic group and your Great Leader because you’re awesome. They want to help the Rejects From Elsewhere take away your awesomeness.
  • Also they’re gay, and Jewish, and maybe even Californian.
  • The Great Leader’s Party should get to do unconstitutional things in order to beat the Deep State Woke Eurocrats; because if they don’t win, your ethnic group will be oppressed by the Rejects From Elsewhere.
  • Let’s take a moment to smash the queers. Smash them in Italy, smash them in Florida, smash them in Poland. It’s really, really important to smash the queers. If you want to follow the Great Leader into reclaiming your country’s awesomeness, you MUST pause to smash the queers.
  • By the way, the Great Leader is specifically allowed to destroy the court system, just to make sure that the queers and the Deep State Woke Eurocrats don’t get to hand your whole country to the Rejects From Elsewhere.

dhork,

“Well, they did it in Hawaii in 1960. They had an alternative slate,” Watters countered. “It’s fine. It’s been done before. And the other thing is, like, why can’t you just ask Mike Pence to do that? Mike Pence said no.”

I hadn’t heard of that, so I looked it up:

…wikipedia.org/…/1960_United_States_presidential_…

That was Kennedy vs Nixon, and there were important differences vs the shitshow that happened in 2020/2021:

  • after the first full count, Nixon was ahead by just 147 votes, but there were legit math errors in the count
  • nobody invoked fraud claims to justify the recount, but they just wanted the count to be accurate.
  • the full retabulation couldn’t finish by the safe harbor deadline, so everyone agreed to certify both slates of electors. One slate wasn’t done on the sly.
  • just before Congress counted the votes, they affirmed that Kennedy actually won, and the Republican governor air-mailed his certification to Congress.
  • Both slates were presented to the Vice President, and he got unanimous consent from the Senate to accept Kennedy’s slate and ignore Nixon’s.
  • That VP was Nixon himself!

Richard Millhous Nixon himself, with more integrity than Donald Trump…

HBO Max was renamed Max, and Warner Bros. Discovery lost subscribers (www.theverge.com)

Warner Bros. Discovery lost 1.8 million subscribers in the three months following the launch of Max. The losses weren’t exclusive to the Max streaming service, though. In its earnings report on Thursday, the company reported having 95.8 million global subscribers across all of its services — down from 97.6 million at the end...

A lot of the decisions that Zaslav has made as CEO are kind of mind boggling. The rebranding, canning movies that were already past post production (Batgirl), and removing shows from the streaming service (Westworld).

They're head scratching moments. You'd think, absent of these changes, they might not have seen such a dip in subscription numbers.

Then again, the subscription service streaming business model is shit, and some of these services are going to go under to satisfy their studio bottom lines...which are going to get another hit once the content slump from SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes begins.

Too bad though, through all the shit, there is a lot of decently produced stuff out there.

I feel like Apple caters to itself, both with its business practices and with its own forays into what they call innovation.

Who are you aiming at with this product right now in this economy?

  • Young to Middle Aged
  • Middle Wage to Wealthy Customers

( Those who are starting to go into adulthood trying to learn how to make ends meet or those that are the powerful minority of this difficult economic scale we all live on)

How do you expect developers to make reasonable margins on this when the product is prohibitively expensive? Let’s be honest: it’s almost $4k (starting at prices are not realistic).

Any developer going into this is basically a guinea pig

Apple is notorious for cannibalizing development ideas and making their own “iSteal Version” of the app.

Is it a cool product? Maybe? Do we NEED THIS NOW?

No, NOT AT ALL.

Does it sound like a shiny new carrot for its investors and shareholders? ABSOLUTELY.

Developers are still trying to figure out what this is, and they are not making that easy or appealing at the moment.

demonquark,

This is why I never understand why people use corruption to get public positions. You are incompetent. You know you are incompetent. If you weren’t incompetent, you would need corruption to get the job. Why would you want a job were your incompetence is made blatantly obvious?

Become a socialite or some other stupid shit.

smeenz,

So… they’re saying it should be up to the browser to prove that the user is a human?

That seems like a terrible idea to me…what’s to stop an automated browser from just saying yes, I’m totally a human ?

PixelAlchemist,

For those that aren’t yet aware: the trade off with the technology behind eliminating bot-detection here comes with a huge compromise. That trade off is that Big Tech companies need to basically certify that your device is capable and valid in order to access a website. “They” can decide at any moment to deny you access to sites that you request, which is a massive detriment to the free and open web. It’s one step below a censored internet and it’s already started rolling out in Safari.

It amazes me how badly these billionares are at running businesses.

Like im an engineer and Not in my wildest dreams could I have destoyed a company like Twitter faster than musk.

Like Did he do it on purpose?

The US government seized b-ok.cc

So If you don’t know about the site. It was a site to get free text books and reading material. Essentially a library archive where any person could get access to any book that was put on the internet for free(novels, poems, short stories, textbooks, etc…) However the U.S. gov shut the site down under two U.S. fed laws. Pentagon AI more ethical than adversaries’ because of ‘Judeo-Christian society,’ USAF general says (www.defenseone.com)

Regardless of what your beliefs are, our society is a Judeo-Christian society and we have a moral compass. Not everybody does, and there are those that are willing to go for the ends regardless of what means have to be employed

chaogomu,

For the last 20-30 years, the AF Academy has been co-opted by a religious cult called the Dominionists.

They basically believe in a religious theocracy with themselves in power.

It's also almost impossible to make General without being an Academy grad. Partially because officers who make General have to be set up for that career path as Lieutenants.

The MRFF was actually created explicitly to fight against dominionism and similar creeds. The Republicans of the House slipped an amendment into the upcoming Defense budget that bans military members from speaking to anyone associated with the MRFF.

Western civilization was elevated by it.

It’s interesting that when Western civilization was being elevated during the Enlightenment that the Christians ran away to another continent to escape what they called “persecution” but was more really the same as we experience today. A bunch of selfish unhappy asswipes who want to make everyone as boring and unhappy as they are by banning things like dancing, and when people don’t like being forced to live like they do, they’re “persecuted.”

Most of the things that elevated Western society were based in philosophy, math and science, not religion. Interesting how that works out.

Ben Shapiro is so fucking dumb he got into an argument with Andrew Neil is a fucking pompous right-wing jackass, but Shapiro is too fucking insipidly stupid to know that, apparently.

It very much felt like he wrote it never intending for a sequel, which I can sympathize with, but what came after... The fourth book is to this day the only novel I never finished.

I finished Eoin Colfer's attempt to finish the hitchhikers trilogy.

I finished the driest sci-fi I've ever read where I can't even remember the name anymore.

I finished every animorphs book, no matter how weird they got towards the end.

I even finished the slog that is the middle parts of the wheel of time.

But that book, no that one scene made me put down the whole series.
