For years there was the “Phantom”, a notorious criminal, haunting all of Europe. DNA testing revealed that it was a female and her crimes ranging from petty theft to murder were seemingly unrelated to each other. That each of them were done in different countries didn’t make solving the case any easier.
But eventually they did solve it. They found the woman working in a cotton swab factory. Turned out many police departments were using the wrong type of swabs. So there seem to be more than one way to incorrectly use cotton swabs.
The content was incredibly boring. That site is already going downhill. I came right back to Lemmy and immediately was more entertained. You’re all much funnier and more creative. I feel like Reddit had a brain drain after the protest.
I really do like KBin and Lemmy and the fediverse on the whole, but development is still young and the userbase still growing. KBin is still basically early access, and Lemmy is buggy. I spent alot of time in reddit and I'm feeling the pain of trying to ween myself from it. Just wanted to here community perspectives and see how...
I hope all of you are having a great day! I just was feeling encouraged today as I have officially lost 30 pounds since August, 10 of which have been just this last month. I don't have many people in my life to share this accomplishment with, so I figured I would post here....
So, I will make no secret that I'm rolling my eyes at all of that marketing stuff that goes up every year. But I've been thinking, it doesn't have to be so superficial and pointless. Maybe there's some rare exception out there that took the opportunity to say or do something meaningful....
It's easy to bag 'corporate pride' for being insincere ( because a lot of if is) but it's also a sign of general societal acceptance that would provide some reassurance to those who feel surrounded by bigots
Any company or organization that ACTUALLY cares about LGBTQ+ issues are going to be doing things all year round and likely won’t make a big deal out of doing things for pride month.
Seemingly all my company did was hang a flag, but we were founded and are still ran by LGBTQ+ individuals, do a bunch of LGBT events through our the year, and are considered a safehaven for LGBTQ people to work in an industry that isn’t always as friendly as it should be.
Yeah. It might not be some massive move, but it does mean something. It's great to see your employer, other possible employers, your local politicians, your municipal services, and even just random businesses that you might use (or not) show that they're accepting, especially when the status quo is to keep quiet to satisfy bigots.
I see a lot of comments from bootlickers on how the protests are dumb and stupid and dont work and engagement metrics are still holding but the quality of posts and comments has noticeably depreciated imo. So much so that whenever I visit the site Im actually shocked at how bad it is.
I think its more likely that the posts on reddit are the same, and we are simply starting to become accustomed to the posts\quality of comments on the fediverse.
Mod of /r/homeimprovement here, that's exactly what we are doing. We are staying dark and forcing them to replace us if that's what they want to do at this point. We are at least going to make them work for it, lol.
But they’re carefully avoiding to say or else what. My guess is every next step option would cost them resources at the scale of subreddits they’re reaching out to, so they’re hoping that the empty threat alone will cause some to relent without costing them anything. Right?
I know it sounds hypocritical but hear me out. My city's suburban streets were mostly built in the 1900s and 1910s, before cars were ubiquitous and before streets were built to accommodate them. So like 90% of the streets in the immediate suburbs (I'm talking 1 - 5 minutes from downtown) are either way too skinny to drive on or...
People have been cleaning their ears with cotton swabs for years. What other tools are being inadvertently used wrong?
I went and looked at the Reddit front page today

Is there any one else who feels like their life has been disrupted by this whole debacle with Reddit.

Lost 30 pounds and wanted to share

“Reddit cannot survive without its moderators. It cannot.” That’s a recent quote from Reddit’s VP of community, Laura Nestler.

Pride Month wrapping up, have you seen any company or organisation do anything remotely meaningful?
So, I will make no secret that I'm rolling my eyes at all of that marketing stuff that goes up every year. But I've been thinking, it doesn't have to be so superficial and pointless. Maybe there's some rare exception out there that took the opportunity to say or do something meaningful....
Does anybody feel like the quality of reddit has already dropped massively?

PSA: Upvote is not an upvote like you are used to (like Reddit) - "Boost" is the Reddit Upvote
Like the title says, if you want to upvote something on KBin, you should use the Boost link, not the upvote button (Why? Don't know...)...

Kinda hate how much car-centric infrastructure has ruined the act of driving around in my city
