You are extremely charitable my friend but Indonesia is not going to stop being Indonesia for Elon, so yes this is Musk's strategic error. You don't abrubtly change your entire multibillion dollar brand without doing some due diligence on the implications it will have. Or maybe he truly is deranged enough to believe he doesn't need customers in 4th most populous country to run a successful social media site.

I'm currently loving a bunch of games in the factory building genre so can I offer you some Dyson Sphere Program in these trying times?

Imagine factorio but you're in a mecha suit building factories spanning multiple planets eventually multiple stars, to build exponentially more complex resources until you're able to shoot swarms of dyson reflectors and eventually build a rigid sphere in orbit.

Still in Alpha after several years, but exquisitely polished, runs fine on legacy machines, excellent responsive dev team, combat is being added soon.

"Antiwoke" magazin on kbin.social posting bullshit like "how to end Wokeness" and "Time to reject the extrem trans lobby harming our society" How to report ? he is the moderator of that magazin. (calckey.social)

@ernest how do I report a Magazin on kbin.social ? There is a usere called "ps" who is posting to his own "antiwoke" Magazin on kbin.social. Please remove this and dont give them a chance to etablish them self on kbin.social. When I report his stuff it will go to him because he is the moderator of the magazin? Seems like a...

We are all happy to engage with competing worldviews

What you call "far right" and "extremist" is actually normal, conservative, and Christian. What you call "hateful" is actually just truth telling.

This isn't a competing worldview, or rather, it's a competing worldview in the same way that phrenology and alchemy are competing ways to view anatomy and chemistry. Like, it's possible to genuinely believe in these things if your conditions of childhood existence are so constrained, isolated, or manipulated that you are happier living life in your own personal 'Truman show.' But the rest of us don't have an obligation to play along with your fantasy.

Most of us here on the internet have at some point met someone we've had a reasonable political disagreement with but could walk away understanding each other better due to those disagreements. Most of us would even say thise diagreements have gone in both political directions. The same cannot honestly be said for folks with your version of a 'world view.' It's like a method actor but worse because it lacks any goal, it's like a person suffering mental but worse because the cause (Patriarchal models of religion) is external, intentional, and had been prosthlytizing delusion as a worldview for millenia.

Reasonable people can have disagreements about trans rights.

For instance, the complexities of solving trans issues in sports, does the age of HRT matter for gendered leagues and title IX? Rule changes occur in sports leagues every year, how will acknowledging trans people change the ways we revise rules for safety, competition, entertainment, and sportsmanship? Should certain sports start to franchise into coed/nonbinary leagues?

For instance the best approach for teach children acceptance and tolerance towards peers who may come to identify with a different gender thsn assigned. There can be conservative and liberal approaches to teaching tolerance.

For instance the difference between the Human Rights campaign that wants LGBTQ civil rights to mimic POC civil rights (the capitalist conservative path, btw) versus groups that advocate liberation politics and taking civil rights in a more left wing direction.

Those are political disagreements. QAnon-fake-news trans lobby conspiracy is not a political disagreement - it's just trolling.

The observed drift since humans have been able to make these observations is that our natural tilt fluctuates 2⁰ over 40,000 or so years. Which comes out to about 576 inches a year (I didnt do the maths, im basing this off the speed that the polar circle is currently drifting, not sure if thats the best way to approximate earths tilt vs. orbital plane). So comparing that to 31 inches of drift per year due to water, this seems to account for roughly 5% of the observed axial drift of the earth.

It's dawning on me that our most current astronomical measurements and this study are drawing on the same time period of observations, and that most of the water humans have moved around on earth likely occurred before and/or after the decades this model accounts for. So yeah, it's troubling.

Slime molds: Cancer is a social construct, actually.

Why do they keep trying to make a game that is everything to everyone? I prefer a game that is 10-25 hours of great content, over a game that requires 60-120 hours of slogging, interrupted by occassional 5 minute cutscenes.

Frolicking is awesome, related subject, make sure you check your body for ticks after frolicking and if you find any go get tested for Lyme disease. It's treatable if you catch it early.

I have a hunch: if you knew how much of Reddit's size was bots or work accounts pushing a paid for agenda, you wouldn't miss it.

Is this what the internet felt like? (lemmy.world)

I've been exploring the fediverse and subbing and posting all over the damn place. Realizing lemmy can federate with kbin blew my mind. Not to mention the possibility of turning my old laptop into a personal server to host my own instance. Is this what it felt like to discover how the internet worked in the 90s?

Except... that's not what they say anywhere. In fact they wrote three nuanced essays that explain in detail their philosophy, and lay out that you CAN be critical of something (i.e. feminism) in a nice way that acknowledges your humanity and the humanity of others, and that if Feminists come in and flame you over it, THOSE are the people who will be getting warnings and bans. They want a mature community that fosters mutual understanding when disagreements arise. So when someone says "feminism bad" like they have a 26 character limit that doesn't exist, they see it not as disagreement but as disrespect.

If you live in Europe or California (or if you pretend you do) you can submit a request to see how information you've submitted has been saved, used, or manipulated by reddit. My understanding is that the laws in those areas give residents a right to have their information scrubbed.

I agree. I also think that beehaw's defederation with Lemmy.world and Sh.itjust is a positive thing! If communities want to self censor, let them. If you want to interact with content from both, join both, or join an instance that maintains federation with both.

Lol, I can't believe what I'm reading. Reddit admitting to the mod community that they have a duty to keep spaces "accessible to users." They've had 20 years to keep their spaces accessible to people who require screen readers and so on. It's been crickets until this week.
