Opinion | America’s far right is operating in Canada. Why don’t we consider that foreign interference? | Toronto Star (www.thestar.com)

By focusing solely on China or Russia and other state actors, Canada is missing the potentially far more troubling forces that proved so disruptive during last year’s convoy protest, Susan Delacourt writes.

"Antiwoke" magazin on kbin.social posting bullshit like "how to end Wokeness" and "Time to reject the extrem trans lobby harming our society" How to report ? he is the moderator of that magazin. (calckey.social)

@ernest how do I report a Magazin on kbin.social ? There is a usere called "ps" who is posting to his own "antiwoke" Magazin on kbin.social. Please remove this and dont give them a chance to etablish them self on kbin.social. When I report his stuff it will go to him because he is the moderator of the magazin? Seems like a...

In such important tasks, I would like to engage in community-driven development. When I start planning these tasks, I will come to you with my whiteboard and sketch out the individual stages. Together, we will look for the advantages and disadvantages of such a solution, the weak and strong points. This is to jointly make a decision on whether the change makes sense on kbin.social but also in the perspective of the entire federation. It can be a great fun ;)

  • I ignored the thing about kbin.localhost and everything on https://feddit.online is working well, also in my test environment. So, you can probably skip it too.
  • The "var" folder will not be found in the kbin folder so the chown will not work. What I did, and from other comments that I've read, I think this is what it should have been, "sudo chown 82:82 /var"

Here's my .env file without the secrets.

If you haven't, I strongly suggest making these comments in the NPS link. Environmental assessment processes really do care about things like the public actually being able to access the parks! Like most government processes they're going to evaluate material submitted to them, not material found in random places on the internet.

I'd phrase it as "allowing eBikes lets me benefit parks like this and gives me these benefits" and not "otherwise I might sell my ebike" because they care about public benefit, not about whether or not you own an ebike.

Inspectorate fines nine firms for selling fatbikes as e-bikes, not regulated scooters (nltimes.nl)

The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate fined nine retailers 15,000 euros each for selling fatbikes without the proper licenses and approvals. The Inspectorate considers these electric two-wheelers to be scooters, which are subject to stricter requirements than regular e-bikes.

/kbin server update - or how the server didn't blow up

Currently, on the main instance, people have created 40191 accounts (+214 marked as deleted). I don't know how many are active because I don't monitor it, but once again, I greet all of you here :) In recent days, the traffic on the website has been overwhelming. It's definitely too much for the basic docker-compose setup,...

Other owners sure do like talking about their e-bikes, which is great because I like talking about mine. Just had a 10 minute conversation with a guy in Hayhurst while riding through his neighborhood. Love the sense of community.

It is astounding how many people showed up on a post about e-bikes to dunk on them. I love my I'm not using it to exercise, I'm using it to get places. I don't care that it's not as good of a workout. Not everyone can comfortable ride a regular bike, not everyone wants to.

riding to the grocery store is transformative

"hopped on my e-bike, and set out. I cruised past cars stopped in traffic. I sailed up a long hill. I zipped right up to the doors… locked my bike to the rack, next to two other e-bikes."

"Freed from traffic and parking worries, faced with a ride in the fresh air rather than yet another trip in a car, I go out more. My suburb has come to feel like a place newly worth exploring."

megclaypool,

I bought a Lectric XP 3.0 Step Through, but I found it too large and heavy, especially when I needed to lift it onto my car's bike rack. I also felt the brakes were inadequate for the weight of the bike. (Lectric sent out an email saying they would be upgrading everyone's 3.0 brakes to hydraulic for free...)

I ended up replacing it with an Evelo Galaxy SL. Unlike the Lectric's hub-drive motor, the Evelo has a mid-drive motor with a torque sensor, so it feels a lot more like a regular bike. It's smaller and much lighter. I also installed a 3.5" stem riser, so I get to rock a super upright posture :) My new Evelo was more expensive, but it's fabulous and I love it :)
