yup that’s me! it’s gone through several reviews and i envision it to hopefully go in once ernest has some time to breathe!

tbh this shouldn't be SUPER hard on the reddit side (even without API). you can get a JSON of a subreddit by adding .json at the end

i.e. https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA would be https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA.json

and then maybe have a bot that runs every 15 minutes, pulls top 10 posts, and then aggregates their links. (this next part I'm not sure how we'd do) check against kbin magazine if the link has been posted, and if not, post it. could limit it to max 1 posted per hour to avoid spam vibes. thoughts?

would be awesome if we could get this integrated natively — do u wanna open a PR or issue to get this in?

/kbin - a few quick announcements

Good morning! :) Today I want to focus mainly on reviewing the pull requests you've submitted. There are many great things there that will help improve the kbin experience. That's amazing, thank you! I'm also in the final stages of sorting out the infrastructure-related formalities. Soon, the situation with the website's...

i have a code change request upon for EXACTLY this! talked about it more in another thread: https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/15413/Collapse-comment-thread#entry-comment-63906

i've been wondering why "hot" sorting looked so weird, this makes sense!

SOOOOOO after finally setting up my kbin dev environment I went ahead and wrote some code to add support for EXACTLY this on the official kbin codebase!

GIF of it in action:
demo

I have a PR up for it already here: https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/pulls/167

Now just need @ernest 's approval and once it's merged you'll be able to do this on kbin without any modifications!!!

edit: clicking on a comment now also hides its content (other than the username), making it even more clear which threads are collapsed! (similar to apollo) – updated the demo gif

TBH that's not too hard to do, but it goes back to the whole mobile friendliness :(

IMO i think the upside of mobile friendliness outweigh the times people accidentally tap on touchpad, and i personally think just having the header being a touch target is a little too small for mobile users.. so i prefer the whole comment being a target

obviously if folks disagree heavily i could probably adjust but i'm curious what @ernest thinks

klin,

I love the huge touch target for mobile friendliness, and I've done some work to make sure accidental collapses don't happen (if you mean to select text it won't collapse, if you click on a link or a button it won't collapse either!)

is there a common situation where you'd accidentally collapse stuff when you dont mean to?

Recommend to have the "Upvote" or Favorites list be hidden.

Currently, each thread has the "Activity" link that shows publicly everyone that upvoted/favorite a thread. This is counter norm to many coming from Reddit and newer folks that expected otherwise. I think hiding the list should be high priority in next feature update(removal?) to encourage frictionless upvoting behavior....

sorry i misspoke, i meant for all new users for it to be off by default! since it’s on by default

There's a pull request to have your subscriptions to be private (https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/pulls/112) – hopefully that helps to some extent? i don't see these pull requests getting merged but probably because @ernest is slammed

klin,
klin avatar

after some digging i found that you can get this under settings > subscriptions — IMO not super intuitive and i wish there was a way we could get there quickly from the sidebar like apollo

curious about this as well! since mobile app would be nicd

Is there a way to view the LIST of magazines i’m subscribed to on kbin?

I see that you can change your feed to only what you’re subscribed to, but I’m pretty used to checking specific subreddits on reddit on the favorites page for Apollo — can’t seem to find a way to do the same with kbin

i see random magazines and posts on the sidebar, seems like favorite list or subscribe list would be good to be around that area but higher
