Hmm something about yoU and I on labor?

This episode is okay. I like its plot and its spy thriller theme. However, I was hoping it to be like Andor. The tension and excitement are kinda lacking. I will still watch the whole season but won’t be that excited with every episode release.

/kbin server update - or how the server didn't blow up

Currently, on the main instance, people have created 40191 accounts (+214 marked as deleted). I don't know how many are active because I don't monitor it, but once again, I greet all of you here :) In recent days, the traffic on the website has been overwhelming. It's definitely too much for the basic docker-compose setup,...

I just want to say that I.. we appreciate all of you and all of the work that you are doing! We are happy to be here!

How do you use dead times at work?

In the upcoming days, there will be an hour or two when I won’t be able to do anything at work because of technical events happening. This could last a month. I’d like to manage my time effectively but it could also be a chance to do non-related work. What do you do or will do to stay productive during those idle times at...

Majority of the people here are super helpful, much friendlier, and supportive even with all the flaws that we are experiencing. Building a community takes effort. Everyone’s effort is focused here so that we can have the place that we want it to be - a place better than reddit.

OC Inspired by the KBeanaut drawing!

It’s from this thread. It got me thinking about how much I also like the name kbean so I drew the mascot shaped like a bean. I made the space helmet circular so changing the head and facial features would be simpler. Same goes with the suit, simplified it so it’s easier to modify. Added jet packs cause we are explorers or...

The kbin/lemmy app is coming along. Here´s a little preview of the upcoming beta! Heavy inspiration from Apollo. The app will be available for both iOS and Android. (imgur.com)

The dev, @hariette, also has a Mastodon profile where she posts updates https://tech.lgbt/@hariette. There is also a link to the apps discord server in her bio.

Looking awesome! Apollo user here, so you know my excitement is through the roof!

Oh man, these fediverse links don’t look inviting if you’re not familiar with these sites. Just saying.

Is John Oliver purposefully providing pics?! This is awesome! Can’t wait for him to take a full on jab of all these mess in a new LWT episode/season.

Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been looking for a replacement to Pocket that is open source! Going to check it out!

I most likely see them as pro-suffering looking closely at the topics they target women, LGBTQ, veterans, minorities, children, poor people. Is this some kind of fetish

Youtube is one of the things that less techie people think of when it comes to internet videos. It’s quite mainstream and will stay for long.

What sites/apps do you rely on on your fitness journey?

I used to have a list of sites that I go to but lost it in the migration. I visit examine regularly for nutrition. Exrx has tons of information but after a while, it gets overwhelming for me when navigating the site. I used to love simple science fitness but not anymore cause the content doesn’t feel simple anymore. I love...

What Kbin needs right now

Reddit was great, but not because of third party apps, not because of quality moderators, not because of the development or corporate oversight ... Reddit was great because of the content. Everything else was how that content was handled to create a great user experience. If there's no content to handle, there's no Reddit....

Bring in the good stuff! Leave the toxicity behind.

Is that their go to reaction? Be more angry and racist?

mmmplak,

Haha yeah, you are definitely right and I feel the same strange feeling. I guess we are so familiar and so used to the names, it’s a daily visit for us back then but it’s in a new world.

mmmplak,
mmmplak avatar

A lot of us came from reddit. I think a lot also expect it to be reddit-like based on the threads and comments posted here. Making the magazines is sort of welcoming people and making the bed for new comers, hoping this place will feel like home. Those who made tons of magazines might have been subscribers, readers, lurkers, and want their interests to be here too.

mmmplak,
mmmplak avatar

You’re right. Let’s also keep this place friendly and open. We chose to be here for a reason. Make it ours and things will get better.

What's something good that happened to you today?

The world can be a pretty strange place, but it's good to look back and find at least one thing that was good to you today. Be that a nice conversation, a cool picture you saw, a song you heard... whatever! But if you didn't find anything good today, here's your sign: go do one thing for you, right now. Even if its just a moment...

Hey, I feel the same way! I felt joy when I saw this post with all the good things that happened to everyone here.

You’ll get there! Be consistent even with the simplest of tasks. Baby steps.

How can we smooth out the migration and help promote kbin/lemmy to subreddits and redditors?

I think the biggest thing we need to figure out is how to make it sound easier than people say it is. People get too hung up on the technicalities of how the fediverse works, and they never try it out and see that it isn't as confusing as it sounds. If we could write up a simple blurb to help promote kbin to subreddit moderators...

mmmplak,
mmmplak avatar

I like that. Sort of a “newspaper” style front page showing top/latest mags from different fediverses. That uniqueness might entice people to join in.

edit:
A microblog is more of a tweet rather than a group chat. A person is posting an announcement/microblog within the magazine and anyone can see and comment on it. In a group chat, it is for invited people only.

Yes to subreddits equivalent to communities and magazines. But magazines have microblogs unlike communities.

Embracing the unknown with strangers feels weirdly right, right now. There’s mutual understanding and fellowship amidst the chaos.

Haha same here. This pushed me to finally pick a site and register.
