Participation from other instances not working?

I made an account to post this, not sure if this is a known issue but I couldn't find anything about it. I've subscribed to a couple communities from here from Lemmy.world and made a post 2 days ago, but all my subscriptions are still pending and my post is still not shown on here (it's showing for other people subscribed from...

It is working for me from kbin, but kbin is overloaded, so it's a bit slow for me.

lemmy.world is usually much more stable.
You could try editing your post, that might give it a bump.

What do you think of subreddits protesting with rule changes (e.g., only allowing John Oliver)?

A ton of moderators have been making changes to their subreddits' rules (e.g., only allowing certain posts, going NSFW, loosening rules a ton) to protest without getting kicked out. Do you think this strategy of turning a subreddit into shitposts is effective or not?...

It's usefull , especially if they advertise a lemmy as an alternative for good conversation.

Wat else can they do? any other kind of protest gets them banned.

Do You Think There Would Have Been a Large Protest if Steve Huffman Just Said We're Charging to Use the API to Increase Revenue?

I've been a long time Redditor and an Apollo user for about a year. I even paid for it. The main draw for me was the lack of advertising. In the back of my head I kept thinking that it couldn't last. Reddit is losing revenue from the lack of advertising views. It didn't...

Reddit killed internet fora. By being easier and cheaper, while making no profit.

If they suddenly do want to make profit?
The terms change, there are alternatives.

Seems so,
There will never be a vote, it's just a smokescreen.

Just communicate with the kbin developers a lot, ernest did disable the api for now because he might change it.

I've seen that "problem" a lot, but they give away the source code for free as proper communists should do, and then it's out of their hands. Just don't go to lemmygrad.ml.

Yea, use anything to get started.
But with what you are doing it's fine to contact the dev team/mr dev directly; they'll love it.

People who are like "The migration to Mastodon has failed!"

No it hasn't. I literally migrated to Mastodon from Twitter, and I don't use Twitter anymore, but I do use Mastodon every day.

I call that a successful migration.

@rasterweb

It's a slow burn, Mastodon keeps growing, twitter keeps getting smaller.

I agree with wander.

While it is good to have an account at a smaller community, it does make discoverability hard, especially for a beginner.
You could allso get another account with the bigger ones like mastodon.world or kbin.social, and you can still post here.

I posted this from kbin.social

Mechanics first, preferably around a theme, for example "mobility and forced movement".

Once the builds starts taking form I get inspiration for a backstory.

hexbear joined limited federation, that's about 80% of that graph

I'll go back to reddit if the content is better.

Occasionally dropping shade and telling people to move to a better platform.
No shame, karma is useless.

Mastodon's privacy issues are just the same as the rest of the fediverse/threadiverse.

With federation there is more openness, transparency and accountability. Take care of your privacy, use alts.

Gdpr applies to servers within the EU, or for servers with EU clients. You can demand that they delete and stop transmitting data.

But you accept to transmit data all over the world, in the end that data could end up somewhere outside of the EU without any direct EU customers. Then all bounds are gone.

--
Do worry about GDPR in conforming to deletion requests, but only your own data, not anything you transmitted.

You do know that you can visit kbin from lemmy, and lemmy from kbin? You don't have to choose 1 of the 2.

static,

I subscribed to the lemmy, it's here : https://kbin.social/m/legaladviceuk@feddit.uk
With how federation works only new posts from now on will be synchronised, not the history.

static,

syncing to other lemmy's and kbins is not that big of a problem if you're popular, the first subscriber from an instance will be quick
you mod everything on the main instance.

lemmy uses /c/ kbin uses /m/

In the end the url structure is not important.

Just use search:
on kbin you would search on something like "legaladviceuk@feddit.uk"
on lemmy you need to search prefixed with a !, "!legaladviceuk"

A partymember is good with midjourney, I asked him to generate it for me :)

[Vote] guess I gotta make a post for this over here. Do we defederate with exploding-heads.com

My primary argument is that they post hateful content and covid conspiracies and it is irresponsible to platform this by including it in our federation. Secondly we already got rid of lemmygrad. Thirdly, there's little to be lost in the defederation given the type of stuff being posted over there. Do as thou wilt...

I disagreed with some of those screenshots, and that's ok. But others where just plain hatespeech, that's where I draw the line.

Berlin, from the public it is treated like smoking.

The "good" part, Often I can vape with the smokers inside because nobody cares about the rules.
