So for non-techy dude that sounds more business oriente in their question, I can clarify that everything that kbin is or can be is public code that anybody can copy and build from.
Correct.
In the long term more stability like a foundation would be best, but I think Ernest needs some time for that, and we have time.
@ernest how do I report a Magazin on kbin.social ? There is a usere called "ps" who is posting to his own "antiwoke" Magazin on kbin.social. Please remove this and dont give them a chance to etablish them self on kbin.social. When I report his stuff it will go to him because he is the moderator of the magazin? Seems like a...
A great use for reddit is the ability to search posts and opinions about any niche topic. Will that be possible with Lemmy as it grows? Will I be able to Google "instant rice Lemmy" and get a comprehensive tier list of each brand?...
although this is unlikely to substantially and directly impact us and is a more immediate concern for Mastodon and similar fediverse software, we've signed the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact as a matter of principle. that pact pledges the following:...
John Gruber describes the Anti-Meta Pact as "petty and deliberately insular" and suggests that the whole point of ActivityPub is to turn social networking into something more akin to email, which he describes as "truly open."1
Tristan Louis says "The anti-Meta #Fedipact can only achieve one thing: make sure that #ActivityPub loses to the Bluesky protocol."2
Dan Gillmor suggests that "preemptively blocking them -- and the people already using them -- from your instance guarantees less relevance for the fediverse."
How can we promote open standards like activitypub while blocking anone else entry.
On meta this is difficult, any Non disclosure Agreement is evil, Everything has to be in the open. and considering the history of FB/meta i'm verry sceptical. But still, open standards, open discussion , i am a bit of an optimist.
It's a flawed risk assesment.
short term not complying is much cheaper. long therm it's bad, but for the individual : "whatever, I got my bonus and switched to another position"
As per this post, it seems Lemmy World is having federation issues. I've had some of my posts and comments get suspiciously low response, so I've looked into it and it turns out that many of them aren't showing on other instances....
please post any subsequent updates here unless they're huge happenings. i just woke up and half our news front page is updates which is nice but also A Lot and most of these don't have to be their own thread
The Titanic director has made 33 dives to the shipwreck and visited ocean depths in a submersible he built himself. He compares OceanGate to the Titanic in that both ignored safety warnings.
I made an account to post this, not sure if this is a known issue but I couldn't find anything about it. I've been having a look at https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy and taking note of the servers where total users is orders of magnitude larger than active users, but I was wondering if there was a comma separated list that we could import into our ban-list....

When will there be a Kbin Foundation that:...

By this I mean: something that can view and fully interact with multiple different services like Lemmy, Mastodon, etc....
"Antiwoke" magazin on kbin.social posting bullshit like "how to end Wokeness" and "Time to reject the extrem trans lobby harming our society" How to report ? he is the moderator of that magazin. (calckey.social)

Will Lemmy posts be searchable on Google?

Lemmy (the wider community) privacy *does* stink (and how to change that)
Sensationalist title yes, but this is something that is partially true....

Like the title says, if you want to upvote something on KBin, you should use the Boost link, not the upvote button (Why? Don't know...)...
