I realized I interacted / posted / commented less and less on reddit these last couple of years. Couldn't even tell you why exactly. Now I've been here for a week and, I don't know, I just like interacting again... Hope it stays like this for a while :)
We're working with alfa and beta software.
Ideally the mods could set the default language on the magazine/community, there are a few english communities on feddit.de
And with prefs you could select to hide certain languages.
Anything new is scary
Reddit is complicated, they just forgot.
The digg users said reddit was ugly and they would never use such an ugly site.
I tried explaining reddit to a diehard forum user, why are all the replies out of order? why are upvotes changing the posting order? this is so complicated!
Don't explain, tell them where to start and how to start. then it explains itself.
Why you should know: StackOverflow is facing a mod strike in a similar way as Reddit's mod strike. They are doing this in response to StackOverflow's failure to address it's promises and provide moderation tools
What is already happening is that kbin source code is getting more contributors to the code, his role is changing
from sole developer to gatekeeper.
There are lots of different names here : https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/pulls
When I look at https://lemmy.ml/c/startrek vs https://kbin.social/m/startrek I see two entirely different lists of posts. Why? It's the same topic, just on different instances. How can we have communities about topics without having them siloed into their own instance-based communities? Is this just related to that 0.18 issue...
Reddit Migration
The real #redditmigration starts the 30th or the 1st, I hope lemmy and kbin are ready for the traffic!
It feels a lot nicer here on lemmy / kbin

The Threadiverse hits 100K active users, 2 weeks after reaching 50K. (fedidb.org)
The next 2 weeks...any predictions/bets on what it will be then?
I don’t understand people who say they can’t figure out Lemmy or KBin
Does federation have a bit of a learning curve? No doubt....
