Motorola mobility(the one that makes phones) has been sold to Lenovo(chinese company). Their recent phones range from great value for money to mediocre. Their moto g32 was(and still is) great value for money
Snapdragon 680(6nm), 90hz screen, water repellent design, fm radio, 5000 mah battery, 30w charging, 85% screen to body ratio, headphone jack. All that for 160€ which is basically as cheap as you can get(a decent phone).
For me, their main feature is the flashlight shake, that allows you to turn on the flashlight just by doing a shake motion(no need to go into menus and stuff).
“The mention of abortion advocacy is the issue here,” a Twitter employee told North Carolina candidate Rachel Hunt, according to emails HuffPost reviewed.
The similarities are amazing, especially considering Reddit was one of the succesors of Digg. They can now enable other successors by making stupid decissions and alienating core users....
A lot of digg submissions were "stolen" from reddit even before reddit got big. Thats how i found out about reddit. Content is king and reddit had better content than digg from the start. Fediverse cant compete with reddit in terms of content atm.
This whole "reddit will die just like digg" sounds like copium to me. I am boycotting reddit but we need to be realistic about the situation. I am not even sure the fediverse(or its members) can even handle reddit's traffic, on an architectural level. Reddit will eventually die but it wont be as fast as digg. And even digg lasted many years with decent popularity.
The weapons already exist, they cost "nothing" to give them to another country. Do you want to pay nurses and doctors in javelins and himars? You could argue that it costs money because this means that they will have to be replaced by new weapons but thats a different discussion.
And the same lawmakers grandstanding on the war in Ukraine have spent the last eight years helping Saudi Arabia brutalize Yemen.
It's almost as if helping a country defend itself against an invader is more morally acceptable. And it's also happens to serve the US interests(hence the bipartisan support). The story is kinda simple, a bigger country wants to conquer a smaller country because the smaller country is doing things the bigger country doesnt like.
Do you think countries and democratically elected governments have the right to choose their foreign policy? Would you be ok if the US invaded Mexico if Mexico decided to join an alliance with China? Because this is what is happening in Ukraine.
In Yemen, the US has no interests and it is basically a civil and proxy war between Saudi Arabia, Iran and Al Qaeda. It's kinda hard to find even relatively "good guys" in this conflict(other than the normal people suffering).

Digg migration was a success because reddit was already the main source of information. 50% of digg posts were "stolen" from reddit. The content was already existing on reddit and if you could get over its "oldschool" looks, it was a straight up superior site in every way.
This cannot be said about the current reddit/twitter competitors.
In Greece, it is pretty popular to eat melon/watermelon with feta cheese. It combines the sweet and salty flavours. The watery nature of the fruit washes away the saltiness of the cheese. Unsurprisingly, the creator of pineapple pizza was a greek from Canada.
I am not so sure calling Peter Thiel a nazi is productive. Maybe i am ignorant but i havent seen anything that indicates that he is a nazi.
Ultimately, Peter Thiel and Tencent funding reddit didnt affect reddit's content in any way. These groups own a very small percentage of the site and neither of them administrates the site.
I am not familiar with lemmy but it seems that the administrators are tankies and popular posts are supporting tankie ideology. That creates a specific vibe that attracts specific people, i am not one of them.
It's like voat. I dont know what voat admins thought but when i went to voat, i saw nazi/white supremacist posts on the frontpage, so i wanted to leave as fast as possible. Btw i dont subscribe to the school of thought that tankies are as bad as nazis but i do think tankies are bad.
Ultimately, it's a vibe check. Something which reddit has been failing for 10+ years. I was on reddit for 14+ years and i saw it changing a lot during those years. I have been wanting to leave reddit for years but there was no good alternative and this api change just gave me the last push that i needed.

Ever since the Reddit API revolt began, I've been hearing about its similarities with Digg's downfall. So I looked it up online, and it really has some crucial similarities. (productmint.com)
