Found this beautiful one, mostly-dead/waking up from a winter coma, on my attic. Brought her out and put into a plate of sugar water. She took about ten minutes to wake up and then there was intensive splashing & drinking. Success! (Both wings are fine!)

I should probably explain what these are. These are a traditional Finnish (or maybe more Swedish-speaking Finnish) traditional cake you eat to celebrate Runeberg day (Feb 5th). Johan Ludvig Runeberg was the national poet of Finland, and his wife Fredrika is said to have started making these.

I love these cakes for being delicious, and for being something you only eat a specific time of the year. This is the first time I've actually baked them, and I'm totally hooked. Can't wait until next year when I get to make more of them!
