While I truly feel for those on the east coast dealing with Canadian wildfire smoke (and hope they are wearing N95s when out), a part of me is glad that politicians in DC are getting a taste of what the west coast has had to deal with for a decade or so and what the future will be like nearly everywhere without drastic action now on #ClimateChange.

Need help figuring out a few things with our completely off-grid outback solar system. Starting with the batteries. We have a 48V system with 3 parallel channels each consisting of 8 6V AGM batteries in series.

1st Question is what should the absorb charge time be? Our system was set up by and recently checked by an Outback tech, but the absorb time is set at 1hr. And that seems too short to me.

Two Octopus Agaves in my neighborhood are blooming!!

Extremely impressive flower stalk for such a short plant. both of them are nearly 2 stories tall on plants that aren't even 2' tall.

Need to head back there in a month or two to harvest babies which will grow right on the flower stalk once pollinated.

It's a win win win win solution - #StackingFunctions in #Permaculture. #LandUse is already designated so no imminent domain or environmental impact. Massive clean power generation potential. The solar panels prevent evaporation of our precious #water. And the water keeps the solar panels cooler and thus more efficient.

My rules for #MediaLiteracy:

1. Always critically read at least 3 versions of any news story before coming to any conclusions.

2. Know or research the reputation and bias of each story's publisher and author.

3. Never believe anything completely. 99.999% confidence is fine, but leave room for doubt because once our brains believe something, information opposed to that belief is automatically filtered out of our awareness. (science knows this - it's why studies are double blind)
