#Oldest#Chinese restaurant in #UnitedStates is in #Butte#Montana. The one-time mining boom town is atop the Continental Divide about 200 miles south of the Canadian border. ..about as far from a traditional #Chinatown as you can get. Established in 1911 by Tam Kwong Yee and his business partner, Hum Yow -- both 1st-generation #ChineseAmericans -- #PekinNoodleParlor occupies a nondescript brick building on the only remaining block of what was once a bustling Chinatown.
@Gustodon Even if it is completely descheduled, Nanny Noem will still find a way to keep it from being legal in my state because it would cut the number of Republican voters in half. It might even keep some people from being angry enough to shoot their dogs.
@HamonWry I'm extremely concerned that our institutions seem to be failing to stop that from happening; our Justice Department seems to be particularly broken. If our country survives the fascist threat I think I will be advocating for massive reforms in our public institutions.
The theme of our next #MythOff storytelling event will be Dragons & Love (since it's on Valentine's Day).
I just started researching the legend of Lake Tazawa.
It started with one dragon, and now there are two dragons, three lakes, and a 10th century volcanic eruption.
In the last days of his presidency, Trump personally ordered a super-sensitive classified binder of intelligence—about Russia interfering in the election on his behalf—to be delivered to him.
On his way out the door, Trump absconded with boxes of classified material.
The binder contained raw intelligence on Russian agents, including sources and methods. It was never returned. It is still missing.
@JamesGleick Yet our law enforcement and intelligence agencies seem unable to figure out where it is and get it back? Our institutions keep failing us. Why can't the FBI knock on Mark Meadow's door with a search warrant?
Mike Johnson said before he became House Speaker, "the Lord told me very clearly" to prepare to become a "Moses" who will lead the nation through a "Red Sea moment." Sure, Mike. #MikeJohnson
@spocko My haircutter says she's psychic and gives me messages from the beyond while she trims my hair. The difference between them is that my hair cutter is vastly more believable.
@lowqualityfacts I have a haircutter who claims to be psychic. I stopped going to her when she told me "the spirits" (or whatever) told her that everything will turn out OK for me. She's obviously the world's worst paychic.
