They were deported to from Ghetto on 15 May 1944. They did not survive.

23 May 1913 | French Jew of Argentinian origin, Sigismond Syskind, was born in Buenos Aires. In 1921 he came to France.

He was deported to on 20 May 1944. Later he was transferred to Sachsenhausen, Flossenbürg and & Dresden where he died of dysentery on 7 April 1945.

23 May 1944 | A transport of 1,200 French Jews arrived at from Drancy. After the selection, 221 men & 247 women were registered in the camp.

The remaining 723 people were murdered in gas chambers. Among them was Harriet Nordmann. She was almost 3 years old.

I grew up around a lot of survivors. I remember talking to my step dad's dad one time and you know these folks did not really talk about the holocaust. At all. And when they did it certainly wasn't around the kids.

So anyway, I forget the context of the conversation, but he said to me that "the thing to remember about what happened is that it's your neighbors that turn you in." We maybe talked three times in my life, but that is stamped in my brain.

Anyway, fuck allayall doing this kind of shit.

A sad 80th anniversary today: Gyula Gelléri was born in Budapest (20th district) in 1891, the son of Lipót and Roza Gelleri (née Rosa Krauß). He studied law and became a doctor of law. He married Eszter Fekete from Szeged and had two children. They lived in Szeged. In the middle of the war he was deported to Backa near Szeged and then to , where he died on 2 May 1944. His wife Eszter Fekete (Dr Gyuláné Gelléri) survived and died in 2006.
