Boosts and reduces no longer working for me?
Boosts and reduces now redirect me to the Kbin error page. Anyone else having this problem?
btp, Is there any way to search or filter the abandoned magazines list?
Blocked accounts still showing in random posts/threads sections
So I like the random posts and threads sections on the main page as they help me find new content, but all too often, they're filled with posts from accounts that I have already blocked. Could we modify these sections to filter out blocked users?
What are these two buttons in the photo upload dialog actually for? And, how do I drag 'n drop to upload an image?
Can't view the threads page of newcommunities@lemmy.world
Whenever I try to view the threads page of newcommunities@lemmy.world (i.e., https://kbin.social/m/newcommunities@lemmy.world), I get an error. It's only kbin.social where this happens, and it's only the threads page of this specific community. I can view the microblogs, the people, and even individual threads, but the threads...
Can I post a new thread from kbin to a lemmy community?
I want to create a new thread. I am subscribed to technology@beehaw.org, but how can I post a new thread on it? When I go to the "Add thread" screen, the magazine dropdown appears to only show local kbin magazines....
Can't block Hexbear communities - with workaround
So to my immense joy, Hexbear has started appearing on the front page again. Instance blocking is not available, and even the regular block feature sometimes fails (on certain communities?) for no clear reason. I've already tried blocking their "DuNk tAnK" and politics sub, it errors in a way that doesn't seem to happen...
Defederate rqd2 [dot] net immediately!
They seem to allow pedo crap (like actual advocacy), thus putting our instance into danger.
Missing search results when looking for federated communities (at Lemmy)
Hi all,...
Could there be a "subscribe to thread" option?
A small thing here. The option for users to individually choose to subscribe to specific threads to get notifications for new posts. I often see threads of curiosity to me, that I personally have nothing to say in that moment, but might want to see what others say.
Damaskox, I see threads that has a YouTube video on it - in a way that you can start watching it right away from the thread.
How is it achieved?
The "add media" -button's URL doesn't do anything.
Could there be a "Filter" button for magazines?
I know there's block, but "block" currently blacklists the entire magazine. If I click on it, it wipes all the threads on /all/, prevents me from looking at threads on the magazine landing page and all comments in the threads should I venture in. A "filter" would be a soft block that just clears it from my feed on the main page....
Damaskox, (edited ) How do you crosspost (in kbin.social)?
Damaskox, How does one embed a GIF so it shows in a comment without clicking any links?
Test: https://tenor.com/fi/view/this-is-just-sad-sad-angry-mock-horror-gif-11156785
Test 2: <div class="tenor-gif-embed" data-postid="11156785" data-share-method="host" data-aspect-ratio="1.77515" data-width="100%"><a href="https://tenor.com/view/this-is-just-sad-sad-angry-mock-horror-gif-11156785">This Is Just Sad Angry GIF</a>from <a href="https://tenor.com/search/this+is+just+sad-gifs">This Is Just Sad GIFs</a></div> <script type="text/javascript" async src="https://tenor.com/embed.js"></script>
Test 3: I tried to add it as a picture as a file from the computer but editing this comment doesn't add it.
Fiivemacs, I see no difference tbh, but you do you. I wish the feature was/is there for people to use, but I enjoy not seeing gifs and having them auto load and hope for counter options.
Damaskox, @Fiivemacs Yeah well, I suppose some folks rather not see emojis neither.
Though they take less space in your eyes than GIFs, they may not always deliver the same feeling what the sender intends 🙂
ThatOneKirbyMain2568, Made a small update to my userstyle idkbin following the recent #kbin update. Colors the user follow & block buttons + some other fixes. #kbinmeta #kbinstyles
Damaskox, I notice myself constantly thinking about the (more silent) magazines I have subscribed to and how they are faring.
I know that I find the magazines I have subscribed to through my profile and the subscriptions. But for reasons I cannot materialize to words that feels like a convoluted way to approach these magazines.
I'm not so sure what I'm trying to say - I guess I just hope there was a view equivalent to https://kbin.social/magazines that showed only the ones I have subscribed to (maybe there could be an option, a box you could tick?) and maybe showing the last time someone created any kind of activity within a magazine?
Damaskox, @ernest Yeah well you don't need to phrase it as "Last activity". Just in a way that the user understands what it means/is for 😁
Since I'm enthusiast about this - how long you think until it will be there? 6 months?
ernest, @Damaskox I was thinking more along the lines of a 6-week period. I'll do it as a break from a larger tasks.
Damaskox, What are badges?
I see a mention of them in magazine options.
ernest, @Damaskox These are the equivalents of Reddit flairs. The owner can define badges to additionally label and organize content in their own magazine. After the introduction of the new frontend, this feature has not been rewritten. We will be working on it in the coming months.
Could we have 'hide' post back again please?
There used to be a handy 'hide' option hiding under the 'more' menu. It seems to have been removed. Any chance of getting it back?
Skavau, Would it be of interest for someone to set up an /m/abandonedcommunities or /m/findamod or even some /m/revivedcommunities magazine to act as a megaphone for revived communities of interest, or to bring attention to unused communities? I know there's abandoned list but it's effectively a big wall of communities.
Damaskox, Would it be acceptable in kbin etiquette to add a tag in at least one thread in a magazine I created, and when talking about stuff in other places that touch the same topic, I use the same tag there as well to "promote" the existence of the magazine?
daredevil, @Damaskox I'd imagine it's alright, as long as you aren't doing so excessively. Other magazines/places might have a rule or disclaimer in the sidebar that will give you a rough idea on how they feel about it. In fact, I'd say that's almost encouraged in addition to being one of the features I appreciate the most about /kbin compared to lemmy or reddit.
ernest, @Damaskox The magazine tags work in a way that automatically adds content to it that someone has tagged, for example, on Mastodon. The magazine's name is automatically a tag. I've seen comments on this matter, and I'll be addressing it soon to improve the mechanism and provide a detailed description of its operation in the admin panel. So, for example, all posts tagged #books on the microblog will be included in the magazine "books," but you can add a tag like #novels in the panel if you want those tags to be included as well.
What are your thoughts on Microblogs vs threads?
When I first joined Kbin I posted threads due to being a reddit refugee but have started posting microblogs as time went on. I have also noticed some magazines have more threads while others have more microblog posts. For example kbinmeta has more threads while the most active magazine I moderate has mostly microblogs.
Damaskox, How do I add an image to a magazine so it's visible without clicking (image) links?
Didn't find info about it when searching.
jared, Add a ! Before the link brackets
Damaskox, @jared I actually noticed that there was a graphical tab in the magazine settings where the image was added.
It was just in a different place than what I thought.
Does Kbin have the saving feature?
I'd like to save useful comments and posts for giggles and knowledge. This feature exists in reddit and Lemmy....
