DJDarren, Granted these monitors are from different manufacturers, but the Philips really shouldn’t be 1/3 the brightness of the Dell.
Using my light meter in an unscientific way suggests that the Dell is 360lux. The same point on the Philips is 115lux.
Is the Philips just shitty, or is there something I’m missing? I’ve got BetterDisplay installed, but that can’t make it any brighter.
danie10, You should buy dual monitors instead of an ultrawide for these 4 reasons
Single monitor setups once dominated most home and office spaces, but computer users looking to enhance their productivity have consistently turned to larger-screened workstations in recent years. For the most part, there are two main ways to add sc ...continues

danie10, @MartinaNeumayer hydro sounds great - that would generate fairly consistently, whereas I lose the sun at night or on heavy rain days.
MartinaNeumayer, @danie10 Yes, exactly why we have did that. Sun is okay to generate the power but we don't have it enough trough the entire year. That's why we went to the hydro power generation too. It is working whole time without any biggest maintenance. Only due to the winter I need to control the state of the machine. You know, ice, snow and so on. But so, it is very worth the money invested into. We had already all the costs compensated after two years of use and now is working purely into our pockets. 👍

publicvoit, How come that people are working with tools (and content) like #Confluence, #Jira, #Webbrowsers in general, #Word, ... and don't have external #monitors in portrait orientation? 🤔 🤷
#PIM
kisharrington, @ericsfraga
Really? I love using 2 monitors in portrait with 2 emacs frames.
ericsfraga, @kisharrington
It's challenging to switch a 38" or 49" monitor to portrait. And hard on the neck during use. 😜

jonoabroad, Do folks have multiple large #monitors? If so how are they configured?
I have a 49", but could use more display space if I could figure where to put it.
jond, @jonoabroad @sidawson Re: desk mounts for sit/stand desks. I have a different use case (multi-screen Zoom studio for workshop facilitation) and I use Loktech desk mounts for my screens (landscape./ side-by-side), plus camera plus 1 of 3 lights. No-drill friction mounts have given 18 months daily use with no issues.

This was an interesting watch and brings home the fact that you should just consider what you are needing your screen for. TVs are certainly also getting better, but there is more to it than just HDMI ports, contrast ratios, and response times.
