This interview is seriously whacked out, both the questions and Dorsey’s bizarre answers.

He has “a strategy for ending censorship forever!” lol

@Green_Footballs Okay.. Soo let's see this strategy being successfully working in the real life. Why not? Bring it on! 😉 Doing vs. talking.

Due to losing control of our Matrix channel, we are officially moving over to Discord for now.

It's a shame, but we can't properly moderate our Matrix, so we can no longer recommend it.

@pixelfed Thanks, but no thanks. Discord is a piece of unfriendly, privacy invasive, full of idiots, shit.

4 Tools to Share Large Files Over the Internet Securely

These are privacy respecting tools to consider. But what signifies as a big file? Any file that you cannot seem to send through an encrypted messaging app like Signal or Telegram’s secret chat. Ideally, it should be anything more than 1 GB.

Inter ...continues

See https://gadgeteer.co.za/4-tools-to-share-large-files-over-the-internet-securely/

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@danie10 Well.. Most reliable and easy to use are (from my experience) always the most simple, ootb implemented into most systems tools like s/ftp, ssh, samba, workgroups etc. All the average user need to do is to enable and properly configure them.

cliffwade, to random
@cliffwade@allthingstech.social avatar

I've spent a good majority of the day moving 750GB of files out of my Google Drive over to my @protonprivacy drive.

I've quit using Google Chrome(long long time ago).
I've quit using Gmail.
I've quit using Google Drive.
I've quit using Google Keep.

The one thing that is just too damn good to quit using that Google makes is Google Photos.

While there are replacements, there's nothing that comes even remotely close to being as good as Google Photos in my opinion. Literally NOTHING!

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @protonprivacy @ente What so particularly "cool" google photos does, or offer that makes it special or worth giving them your private, personal data? 🤔🙄
I am asking seriously. Name few such functionalities, please.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @protonprivacy @ente I don't deny that. I am very aware that with today used technology and standards is not possible to keep own content completely own and manage it in a correct, decent way. Perhaps someday in the future it will be possible? But not now and not soon.
Those features are fairly available in many other similar apps and services which are much more friendly to user and his privacy than google. Sadly they are using people's content for their own, shady purposes.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @protonprivacy @ente 2/n And that's why I say no to them. As many other people too. Not mentioning about user/children data illegally used scandals they are involved with. Such company is a big no-go for me.
Btw.. Their ui is very poorly made. Lots of important, normally useful options are hidden, placed without any common sense or not available at all. In this topic for example is much better done, with the usability in mind. Imho.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @protonprivacy @ente That's the good point. But google doesn't allow you to freely choose what you want. Or you are using all their crap, or you don't use it at all. There is no middle level, no free choice of options. And lots of them are simply not given to the user as they should be. You are simply chained to their ideas no matter how stupid or dangerous they are or can be. That is very not okay. As well as notoriously being lied by them. I can't trust such corpo who lies.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @protonprivacy @ente You doesn't understand what was written.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @ente It was about functionalities you can't choose separately. You can only have all or nothing per particular app by google. I hope it is now clear.

Those functionalities are also the part of the topic we discuss about here from the beginning.

Ignoring some most important things and/or functionalities, that is something totally different and it is only your personal thing. I don't care. You can ignore those things or issues, but it doesn't mean they will magically vanish. 😁

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @stu @ente O really? So, try to turn off collecting all type of data that are gathered by Google trough no matter what of their app they provide today.
Can you?
Or you're telling me here now and the other people as well simply some totall bs?
So.. Show me/us how to do that, please.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@stu @cliffwade @ente This are not opinions. Those are the facts and based on the professional experience by working little over ten years long for them. And due this time we did enormous amount of code for google. So I can freely and fairly well say: I know exactly how their shit is done and how it works. Don't I? 😉😁
In the simple words: tons of options are not available for end-user but they are still there and they remain active. Conclusion: no one can choose from them all freely. That's all.

We are upgrading the preset SimpleX relays to the new version - it is compatible only with the apps starting from v5.5.3 (released early February) - please upgrade to the latest version and ask your friends to upgrade too.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@MartinBe @simplex It still hangs? Did you try to clear the cache and data from the app? If not, do it please. Perhaps some old config file interfere with the new version?

MartinaNeumayer, (edited )
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@simplex @MartinBe 1/n I think I know whee the whole problem was or perhaps still is, but that's not your or SimpleX app fault.
The fault here is fully on the F-Droid side. Their faulty stupid app had updated to the wrong version. Instead of selecting a proper v7a file accordingly to the device's system, it somehow forced v8a. Such a simple task as properly recognizing system architecture by F-Droid can of course not be normally done, because why? They trying that for years and still can't. 🤦‍♀️

MartinaNeumayer, (edited )
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@simplex @MartinBe 2/2 My man tapped as usual on the "update" button and the dumb fdroid made him a mess. I have today manually select the v7a file from the versions list and now is working fine. Okay, almost fine because of the issue with the profile picture which can't be loaded from the device gallery - that bug is still present. But everything else seems to be all right. The solution is to choose the file for update by hand, instead of automatically. I think I can close the github issue now.

Finally... More people are realizing that there is a big problem with Google's giant personal data collection.

And it happens on TikTok... 😐

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@gael Yes and people should be creeped out, especially after somethings like this latest scandal discovered in Denmark and Sweden with google being caught on illegally harvesting for years private data from and about kids that used their Chromebooks at schools. They fed with those data their ai, they also sold them to many data brokers. In both countries such behavior is considered as an criminal act and also child-abuse federal crime. I hope google will be cooked in their own sauce for that!

@itsfoss That's the waf/cdn problem you're using. It is well known that shitflare is a most crappy company with the very bad behavior and policies as well. Yes, Mastodon issue it is too, but not only their. You're also a pretty lucky that shitflare doesn't ban your domain and/or domains/ip's of your readers/users, what they are doing very often.
Just report this problem to Mastodon support and wait for the fix/solution from them. You can also temporarily use some url shortener/redirect service.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@annika 2/n There were two variants produced. This on the picture is a basic one without the particle acceleration module. Can be active between 70 to 80 years. But the second one with pam was designed to be fully functional a little over three hundred years. If someone takes the second one so in the hand without wearing protective suit, will be dead in a matter of circa 72 hours and dies very painful death. I've also heard about that they have done a prototype of third one, but never saw it.

Pixelfed Live is one of the most overlooked features we have

We're working on v2 with easier deployment, first class mobile app support and improved federation!

ICYMI: Pixelfed Live = Broadcast Live from Anywhere, with Chat!

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@dansup I think not overlooked but inpractical one due to the need of using yet another separate app on the mobile. If this feature will be integrated into the main app, probably the whole situation will be much better than actually is. People today are increasingly moving away from the need or trend for installing separate apps for every single, little thing. In the contrary, unification and integrity is the best possible way. Because fragmentation always was and will be a very bad idea.

@novalauncher From google? Really? Can't you add them from some privacy friendly company instead of using and connecting people with such an ugly, horrible data predator one? At least please give users an option to disable that.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @novalauncher It will be very nice, because there are plenty of people on this world who doesn't want to have anything common with this crappy company.

MartinaNeumayer,
@MartinaNeumayer@mastodon.social avatar

@cliffwade @novalauncher Honestly it can be any which is user and privacy friendly. For example.. Mojeek, Startpage, or any other even metasearch based one. It really doesn't matter which exactly one you're choose to use. Or perhaps will be much better if the user can choose one by/for themselve? That would be a best option, I think.
