It's pretty easy to adapt most console controllers to USB for use on modern systems, but #Playstation 1/2 controller adapters are a bit of a mess. The cheap ones that are all over eBay/Aliexpress are crap and unreliable; I'm sure Raphnet's #PSX adapter is lovely, but it's out of stock right now, and doesn't rumble; and there isn't a single Mayflash SJB3 on a store shelf anywhere anymore.
I need another project like I need a hole in my head, so... I should build my own PSX to USB adapter, right?
I think the hardware looks neat and makes sense for around-the-house more than on-the-go. Sony knows how to do inputs, so grafting a DualSense to a small tablet is not the worst idea for a handheld gaming device!
We've been using Steam's in-home streaming since it was in beta, and it was really smooth even then. Good video quality, low latency (<12ms), and this was 1080p between a Win host with a used upper-mid tier AMD GPU, and a client running Ubuntu on a mediocre 7 yr old Dell. They were both wired, but we had good luck with the Steam Link on WiFi later, too.
I would think Sony should be able to match that experience almost a decade later. Weird.
@danep to be fair, my most recent experience was actually playable—I did a bit of LEGO Star Wars and Horizon Forbidden West, and was able to kill some time. I’ll have to keep checking it out—maybe they fixed their issues in anticipation of this device? 🤷
Ok, I admit. I might have overdone it a little here.
But these were all super cheap, except for the Castlevania one since that's a Limited Run release so it was €60, but I adore Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.
Oh, I basically never play fighting games online, so these can be played offline just fine.
If it's anything like Melty Blood, there will probably be quite a few routes to go through which make it a lot more interesting compared to the straight forward options in most fighters.
Still on my Ys Memories of Celceta trip so when I was shopping for harder to find, but cheap Visual Novels and RPGs, I had to add this one to the list.
€33 brand new, so I'll call that a steal. 🥰
@OutofPrintArchive I loved my time with the PSP version! I wish you a lot fun with your copy:btr_nijika_heart:
For me it was the perfect game for short bursts because of its level selection structure and just the relaxing island town vibes.
@Kyu_b thank you! 😊
This is actually one of the Trails games that I know nothing about.
I was originally gonna pick up Zero first as I’ve heard great things from the Crossbell series, but that one was nearly double the price of Nayuta, so I knew I had to grab this one asap as it’s quite rare to see it discounted.
@theretrosven Quake2 Lithium CTF. Also das erste was in den Sinn kommt.
This is the Logitech Cordless Action Controller, a wireless pad for the #PlayStation 2, and it hides a puzzle I need your help to solve.
For every forum thread calling this the best controller ever, there's another complaining it doesn't connect to its receiver. I think either the controllers or receivers are failing over time.
Do you/did you have one? Does it sync, does it not? What are its model/part numbers? Send photos!
Unexpectedly, it's the blue cheapie PSX adapter that works best with this pad - even vibration works when it's used with reWASD and treated as an xInput device.
It does work, albeit badly, with the #Raphnet adapter - a few times a minute, it'll fail to update control input changes for a split second, meaning it misses button presses all the time.
(@raphnet, if you're interested in fixing the lag on this one, let me know - I'll test for you!)
This is probably old news to most, but I completely forgot about this one!
Most of M2 ShotTrigger releases have seen a physical release, either on PS4 or Switch, but Mahou Daisakusen/Sorcer Striker was only ever digital on the Japanese PSN store.
omg omg omg it's here!
Can't play it right now as I have to leave for work in a bit, but I'm so glad to have these.
These are actually part of my summer vacation purchases, but I didn't want to hold off a couple of months just to see them sold out, so I grabbed them immediately instead.
@jake4480 It really is amazing what goes on behind the scenes. The designer (my instructor) said the rebrand was really going very unusually. There seemed to be two competing ideas, and little room to come with an agreement.
Awesome!! Congrats 🎉 I have not finished it yet. Still chipping away. This week has kicked my butt at work. On vacation now though 😎 headed out of town though. Nintendo Switch will be taking over. Might try out remote play if I get some internet. When I get back I have to finish the game up. Glad you enjoyed it. Do you have any game lined up?
Two absolute heart picks for me arrived.
Sadly, I found out that Psychonauts 2 only runs at 30fps, even on PS4 Pro.
So I'm thinking of holding off to replay this one till I finally get a PS5 where it runs at 60.
How silly it might sound to most, Returnal is the one first party game that I actually want a PS5 for. Wasn't able to find a copy for less than €70, until this one popped up for 48, so I jumped at it.
Yeah, sadly, I didn't like Golden Abyss at all.
It was a technical showcase for the system for sure, but it didn't feel right to me.
A massive part of the uncharted series are the character interactions and the bond they have created to the players over the years.
At least that's how I feel about them. Same with The Last of Us.
Golden Abyss felt off...
Lost Legacy afterwards was a breath of fresh air though.
I think that's the only one I haven't completed yet..
Ordered myself a care package with some of my favourite games from France yesterday, with priority shipping, to lift my spirits a bit. 😊
Still quite a bit of pain, but nowhere near the level it has been.
I've also slept for 12 hours last night, so there's that. Medication seems to be doing its thing.
Just waiting for the doctor to to visit today and get a bit more info and see how it's going.
@Phelpssan
I’m so glad that they have finally started to get the recognition they deserve thanks to the success of the Ryza trilogy. Although I do find it annoying that the detractors keep pointing to the “sexiness” of the main character as the only reason for its success 😒
Some of the most wholesome and sweet games out there with a very special atmosphere.
Oh and such wonderful soundtracks!
