Marjorie Taylor Greene thinks the fact that the Earth spins at 1,000 miles an hour and that “we have no idea we’re even moving” means that God must be real. Okay… well, Marjorie’s big mouth moves at 1,000 miles an hour, and I have no idea what she’s even saying, so Satan must be real, too.

Sadly, though, she’s a person who picks her conclusions without the slightest evidence of rational thought, and still somehow believes she is inarguably correct. Wilful ignorance coupled with appalling arrogance is a bad combination.

@georgetakei spin is not measured in mile per hour. It is measured in units like revolutions per minute (rpm). The earth spins at about 1 revolution per day. Because of that spin, near the equator you get a tangential velocity of about 1000 mile per hour. It will be close to 0 miles per hour near the poles. Green not understanding Newton's laws of motion is proof that God looks after fools and drunks....
Ironic given both Copernicus (heliocentric universe) and Galileo (inertial frame of reference) were both subject to longstanding Church censure. Copernicus’s work was removed from the Catholic Church’s banned list only in 1835.
But MJG isn’t known and loved for her lack of ignorance.

For example, I am in Germany and I am definitely not moving at 1000 miles an hour. a) I am using the metric system like most people out there and b) the earth is revolving with 15° per hour. To me that would definitely be slower than some 1600 km/h as I am nowhere near the equator. 🤦♂️
