Republicans force women and girls to give birth to babies from rapists and deny women desperately wanted babies by making IVF effectively impossible.

That’s what’s happening.

It’s not too late to elect a whole lot more Democrats before this gets worse while many will be fighting this in the meantime.

Eric Johnston, forced birth, anti-choice activist and lawyer who helped draft the constitutional language:
“Modern science has raised up this question about well is a fertilized egg that is frozen — is that a person? And that’s the ethical, medical, legal dilemma that we’ve got right now,” Johnston said. "It’s a very complicated issue,” he added.

No, Mr. Johnson, this is not "modern science" and it is not a "very complicated issue."

Facts:
> An embryo is not a person
> Eric Johnson is a misogynist, christofascist, sadist and only slightly more of a person than an embryo

IT IS FAR WORSE THAN THAT!

@TonyStark

I was watching the 1985 version of 1984 last night and there was a part in it where they explain to the workers that with their new medical knowledge, there will be no more need for sex.
They could design and produce children for specific purposes.

It's almost like the are using Orwell's novel as their playbook.

This country is going 1984 in a big way and we need everyone to vote to stop the madness.

@maddad @TonyStark vote for who, exactly? Most Alabama elections involve major positions where there are no other candidates because there is no funding to support opposition.

Please, ask your friends and online contacts to put money into Alabama politics.

Voting does not matter if there is no one to vote for.

I've lived here my whole life. We need massive outside support.

@NadiaPurge @maddad Hi. I’ll come back to this but my first post didn’t mean specifically Alabama. This whole issue stems from the Roe/Dobbs issue which is not specific to Alabama. Everyone needs to elect Democrats, not just you.

As far as the second part goes, that should be different. It’s very difficult because even in purple states, Republicans are spending billions the DNC cannot match. But people should try.

Lastly, try and get people to run locally anyway. Don’t wait for the DNC. 1/2

Here’s one organization I can recommend that does work in Alabama.
Black Voters Matter Fund – Black Voters Matter

https://blackvotersmatterfund.org/

Here’s another:

Run For Something

https://runforsomething.net/

Sometimes we have to be our own heroes. I’m in an elected position I don’t have time for honestly but I’m in it because it needed done. 2/2

@NadiaPurge Anyway, this is really important and worth attention. Alabama does need outside help although I often get some pushback when I say that. I donate to out of state races all the time.

You probably already know this but the AL Dems had a problem with leadership a few years ago.

@NadiaPurge This sort of thing can take awhile to rebuild (I've been in a similar situation) but I hope people in and out of AL don't give up on it. It sounds repetitive but grassroots efforts are going to have a longer term positive effect than anything top down.

There are lots of ways to get involved even though it can seem daunting. Find friend or two. I started a grassroots group in a backyard in 1995 and it took a long time to get results but it was worth it. 2/2

ReallyBlue2,

@maddad like Texas, the system is so rigged the investment is almost certainly wasted. Feds need to oust these fascist, non representative governments and install representative government that is called for in the Constitution

mishi,

@maddad @TonyStark

I’ve read Orwell, 1984 a few times and that is not in the book.

@mishi @TonyStark

It was in the 1985 version of the movie. It's on tubi tv
