Just noticed today that MacOS puts a little bit of resistance when you are pushing a window towards another, or when you align them on the sides/edges.
Makes it so that it is easy to get your windows aligned or perfectly side-by-side.
Not sure when this first came up, but it is such a nice touch.
@Migueldeicaza For me the problem is that I NEVER want to align them "perfectly" 😅 That's probably just me, but I always want some padding between windows. This is also a reason I don't use auto-window-layout tools nor "snap" on Windows 🤷♂️
@Migueldeicaza Right, just that Apple might not be the usability geniuses sometimes people might get the perception they are - on the contrary, I find MacOS to be maddeningly inconsistent and limited, and KDE being ages ahead in UX and functionality :)
@Migueldeicaza Also, I believe holding down Option (or maybe some other modifier, try them all) while dragging will override this, for when you don’t want it.
@siracusa@Migueldeicaza Funny, we had this in GNOME until like last year, and switched the behavior to snapping when you press Ctrl only. IIRC the rationale was that it kept tripping people up that windows can randomly jump around if you move them slowly. I wonder if the macOS implementation is smarter somehow?
