Another eclipse photo, showing the solar prominences around the edge. I am told that these prominences are probably several times the diameter of the earth! Yikes.

@tom30519 You got some great eclipse photos!

Thanks! I was lucky to live in the middle of the eclipse path, and that the sky was clear here, on Monday.

And I followed the excellent advice of eclipse photographer Fred Espenak for exposure, bracketing 9 stops. No do-overs with an eclipse! 😃

The Sun is a scary place! Burning off gas for billions of years, with billions of years still to go. That's a lot of energy!

Very little processing on these images so far: 1:1 cropping, slight sharpening in Topaz. Otherwise, straight out of the camera.

What was the apparatus?

Sony A7R3; Sony 200-600 @ 500mm; ND5 solar filter; Optron SkyGuider; interval timer; RRS tripod.

Exposure was ISO 200; f/11; 9-stop bracketing from 1/15 to 1/4000.

5 minute intervals during partial; 8 second intervals during totality.

I moved the setup down to the ground during the event; the deck was full of family causing vibrations! 😃
