UK millennials: if someone handed you a wooden recorder, could you play a song?
(Bonus points in comments if you can tell me which one. This Q brought to you by my confident assertion in group chat that even after 25+ years, I could still smash out Lord of the Dance)
@girlonthenet not British and to my neverending regret a few years too young for millennial but I can play Auld Lang Syne on the tin whistle if that counts?
Taught it myself tho, never learned it in school, if that's what the question is getting at.

@girlonthenet definitely Mary Had a Little Lamb / Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Possibly more since a lot of the basic fingerings are the same as a flute

@stuart OMG. I was an innkeeper and I had a little song that went “sorry I have no room, sorry move away. I would have liked to help you, perhaps another day...” and now I am for some reason angry that my brain remembers THIS but remembers nothing that might be useful in a pub quiz.
@girlonthenet nope, I've always been rubbish at memorising tunes. I could play a tune & possibly improvise something but I can't play a tune you'd recognise.
@girlonthenet It was whole class, I can 100% confirm to you that it wasn't.
My partner at the time was (and still is) one of the leading pro recorder players in the uk/europe and when it's played correctly it's transcendently beautiful.
