Well, that's fun.

Mounted a WebDAV folder from a storage host, thinking "Hey, I can just copy my Google Photos from the Takeout archives into the folder that way."

I rarely work with DAV but assumed that it would let me know if it dropped the remote connection.

Nope. Lost the connection only a couple GB in but nothing TELLS me. It just carries on copying spontaneously to local path, and I start getting alerts that my root filesystem is filling up.

Bah.

Sftp it is, then.

SSHFS is my best friend and worst enemy. But I doubt it would tell.me if it took a nap either

@olav it felt like my machine was so proud of itself, carrying on happily with writing like there was never a mounted filesystem there.

Like it was a golden retriever that was interrupted while ripping a couch to pieces. Looks at you with big eyes, tail wagging "LOOK WHAT I DID! I KILLED IT! CAN I HAVE A COOKIE?"
