@RickiTarr Oof, you should hear my wife's sermons on David. She does not cut him much slack, but also wonders why he's described that way scripturally.
@ianhecht When one reads all the crap David pulls and gets away with, it’s a little easier to understand why evangelicals buy into Turnip and people like him. You can be a murderous turd and claim grace & God’s will, and they eat it up like banana pudding at a church potluck. @RickiTarr
@RickiTarr I so rarely write these days I'm sure mine is just as bad. Although in all the samples I've seen I think this is at least legible.
I have a year of written diary from my first year of University... I keep meaning to convert it to Unicode bytes but never get around to it. It would be interesting to see how good a job a machine transliteration would do with my handwriting.
I think mostly I'm concerned about reading it myself and staring into my teenage psyche and not recognizing me.
@RickiTarr these were stored at my parent's house and then at my brother's appartment and I finally took them here to the US. My hand writing was terrible, has improved a bit since then... it is fun to see old stuff from that phase of life. Note 100% recycled paper, I was an environmentalist chemist even back then...
At a glance and with a grain of salt: Your sinuous flow shows an open- mindedness. Strength of self identity in your capital I. Poetic W's. Left margins seem to show that you have more you want to share.

I would never have recorded my own musings, but this thinking could almost have come from me.
This struggle to fit Biblical teaching into one's belief system is very familiar, and you can see the impending failure of it to fully take hold. In a way it's beautiful to see.
This feels like a waste of time for an inquisitive young mind to go through.
@elverkonge Yes! This is very much in a time of my life where I was starting to question things, trying to make my actual values work with the belief system I was brought up in. Good catch!
@RickiTarr I realize this is some REAL Christian speak going on here, but it's so interesting to see that you have been this genuinely inquisitive and thoughtful for a very long time, even if your overall views have changed. You're the real deal, Ricki.
Sometimes I really do wonder if anyone actually gets behind hope. Or if we just say that to rationalize our own guilt. When they do horrendous crimes and such. We don't want to think there was something we could do. We shudder to think that living can send you to Hell just as fast as rape or murder that we would actually belong in the same place with monsters like that. It puts me to mind of Ted Bundy who was saved only a little before his execution. Perhaps he was beyond hope but I think that God is beyond hope. He sees into hearts and maybe when He looks into these people who are beyond hope he sees a little part of them grasping for just a bit of it. I think that it really pulls us sometimes to think the adulterous murderer David was a man after God's own heart.
