There’s a bike policy ride this Saturday in #Beaverton where you can hear and ask questions about #Biking infrastructure projects to reduce car dependence in the city.
Got myself a one-person feast at Desi Bites in #Beaverton! 😆🎉 They’re not “Abhiruchi level” (i.e. the best #Indian food in all of #PDX, except located in Vancouver WA) but I loved getting a bit of everything with their vegetarian thali which comes with a single bite of dessert - the perfect portion! The egg curry was a bit too sweet for me, but I’m coming back for #vegan sambar on Tuesdays!
(I went to see Monkey Man afterwards, which sadly contained 0% Indian food… but 500% Dev Patel! 🇮🇳🔥)
Welcome to the April 12th BikeNite! Thanks for joining, and I hope we all enjoy chatting about cycle stuff! Feel free to answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later. Reply to what you like, and boost for visibility.
We'll start out with our introduction, inspired by comment from @rodbotic:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? What does a typical ride for you look like? Share a photo if you'd like. #BikeNite#BikeNiteQ
@ascentale@rodbotic#BikeNite A1. My typical ride is 7 miles to the library with a good stretch along a power line linear park in #Beaverton#PDX. It’s kinda fragmented with narrow walking paths and sections where I have to cross pretty busy roads (Farmington, TV Highway, and Murray). On sunny days, I can take my #Schwinn Prelude acoustic and others I take my #Benno E-Scout.
But at least some separation there... Why don't more people bike from #Portland to #Beaverton? Could it be the way ODOT sits on this segment like a selfish old dragon, the way it does all of the deadly urban #stroads in our metro area? #Vision60or70something#ODOTGTFOpdx
Pavement being destroyed by speeding drivers, crumbling the foundation to sand before ODOT'll hand it over to local jurisdictions. Right lane is effectively bus-and-turn only, just paint it red some and let's go. #VisionZero
Fredericton- Local Christian school administrator Fred McFinnigan woke up this morning, ate a hearty breakfast, and for the 15,344th consecutive day was not made to account for any criminal acts committed by current or historical practitioners of his faith.
there's at least a couple streets in Washington county that are exactly this, #Beaverton has a few car-free connections, but instead of a simple path through some spots they want to turn a quiet side street into a new main road. Completely bonkers to be planning to pave more land into 2030 and beyond just so people won't have to drive around the block to drive the kids to school, wow... our transportation and planning depts and politics are so broken.
You know when a cop drives alongside of you, matches your speed, and gives you a look? Like after 2 miles of stroad with no bike lanes, a bike slot opens for a block or two by the freeway underpass (I don't think that lane even makes it through the other side of the underpass to the Fred Meyer in #Beaverton.) So I ride in the bike lane for two seconds and he drives off to sit in traffic at a red light, where I'll catch up in a bit, again occupying the right lane. 🙄 drivers
Not sure how legit this is but supposedly this is from the Beaverton since they were blocked as a Canadian news site on Meta. It seems weird enough to happen.
Support businesses that support queer folks before and after June. That's why I am a regular at Lionheart Coffee in #Beaverton. Great coffee, great people, great support. #PDX#Portland
So thankful for infusions because I'd be in a very bad way and probably wouldn't still have my intestines without them. But damn does it kick my ass sometimes. I hope I'm feeling better enough to go to #Beaverton's Pride parade tomorrow. #IBD#CrohnsDisease#Inflectra#Remicade
