Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with a slightly (19%) increased risk of heart failure up to 20 years after diagnosis https://www.byteseu.com/128718/#Science

Seeing as how it’s been 56 years since I was diagnosed I guess I’m overdue. We #crohnies also have a 10% increased chance of getting bowel cancer, and it goes up another percent or so every year. Maybe I’m just lucky. Good times. #crohns#crohnsDisease

On the other hand, when I was 18, freshman in college, I had excruciating gut pain for several days. Finally went to health service, the doc said it was just gastritis. Went back 2 days later with worse pain. Walked across campus to an ER. My appendix had perforated and leaked shit (literally) throughout my abdomen. Was in hospital for 3 weeks after surgery. That’s when they discovered I had #crohnsdisease. Moral: if you feel sick, see a doctor.
A lot of the #creakyChats community on Twitter seems to have dissipated since Twitter went kaplooey, but the #Discord channel is still there. It doesn't seem very active these days, but it's there, and we would love to see you if you have #arthritis or a #chronic illness. Come join us, we're nice people.

2/ around 93 I was posting regularly on the #crohnsdisease use.net forum. I'd found a book on the internet and the new world wide web thing and was going thru various things like gopher and other protocols I don't recall the names of. And then I got to the chapter on WWW. I got a Mosaic browser on my Mac and the first thing I searched for was crowns disease. nothing but crickets. Somebody on use.net one day said, wouldn't it be cool if there was a web page for CD.

Well, the safety tests were promising. I’m a tad long in the tooth to be able to benefit from this if it ever becomes an actual therapy. But I’ve been fortunate to have been in remission from #crohnsdisease for about 25 years, but I know several crohnies my age who still have active disease. This would be a game changer for millions of people.
So thankful for infusions because I'd be in a very bad way and probably wouldn't still have my intestines without them. But damn does it kick my ass sometimes. I hope I'm feeling better enough to go to #Beaverton's Pride parade tomorrow. #IBD#CrohnsDisease#Inflectra#Remicade
