Peter Higgs (1929-2024) played a major role in the motivation for the LHC, CMS and ATLAS. The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 laid the groundwork for a completely new area of physics studies: physics of the Higgs boson. The CMS collaboration will be forever grateful, and he will be remembered with much fondness and esteem.
My video "Why is there a statue of Lord #Shiva at CERN? Truth" reached 50K views today! A small effort from my personal stories capturing the spirit of #India at CERN and bursting some #CERN conspiracies!
MARWAN, the #Moroccan#Research & #Education#Network, recently welcomed a significant #connectivity upgrade from Rabat to London, where it peers with the GÉANT network with onward traffic to other R&E networks around the world.
The LHC is not just a single accelerator, it’s a chain!
All the older @CERN machines (mostly) participate in the acceleration of the particles that eventually come into the Large Hadron Collider for the "final push"!
What better way to honour this mathematical marvel (π) than by baking a delicious pie that resembles the CMS detector? 🥧
