allows #DetectionOrders to be issued very broadly - ignoring EU Council Legal Service's concerns that this is 🙅🏿 NOT compatible with human rights law prohibiting general monitoring.
The current 🇧🇪 Presidency of the Council has responded to concerns, claiming that they have put forward a ‘more proportionate’ approach, which also protects encryption. However, this is not reflected in the latest text that they have put on the table.

🔸encourages age verification & turn-off of encryption by default
Proposed reliance on the EU Commission for risk criteria decisions DESPITE
➡️Serious allegations of non-impartiality around the Commissioner in charge of CSAR
➡️DG HOME’s alleged undue closeness with the surveillance tech industry

La Commission a réalisé des clips vidéos flippants sur l’exploitation des enfants, avec des stats déformées, pour dire qu’il fallait absolument soutenir le projet.
