Yet another book I'm really looking forward to later this year❗

"The History of the Gothic Video Game" showcases some of the most prominent and enduring examples of with
elements.

using video output with stereo sound using an external speaker. One of the most badass openings in video game history. The recording adds a blue tint that you wouldn't see natively.

Its so beautiful :blobcat0_0:

The next--serious, meant to be enjoyed, non-DOS trash--game to be played live on stream!

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain was fun but now it is time to move on to the sequel, Soul Reaver! A personal favorite game that I played exclusively on the PS1 as a kid.

I'll be playing the unofficial HD Remaster that utilizes the Dreamcast version via the Flycast emulator with and HD texture pack.

This should be a great time!

Spike pits and ice... "physics".

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is an ABSOLUTE classic game; incredible atmosphere, story telling, dialogue and voice over work...

... the actual meat and potatoes gameplay tends to fall flat on its face, however.

It's not "bad"--just a product of its time and time hasn't been kind to it.

@crochet
Continuing my obsession, adapted Alison Hoffman's patterns to get the claws done

Aradiel,

@knitting @crochet

Continuing on the same project

I assembled the main parts and started adding the hair. Maybe too much hair, but I'd rather cut from too much than have too little

Separately I've been coding a tool to help with the cape issue. I'll put the code on my blog once completed

Side view of the mostly assembled doll, flowing locks of hair prominent

Aradiel,

@knitting @crochet

is tough when you only give yourself an hour a week

I added more hair to Kain, though not on the very back of the hairline. It seems to come down to the right place.
I made some ears, but think I'll attach them after doing the ridges/crests on the skull

I finished my tool, so decided that knitting and embroidery might be the best option for that. I started, only to discover that my stitch measurements are wrong

Aradiel,

Finally an update worth sharing - I completed the cape/banner. I did it via embroidering the design in white wool into a knitted red piece. It's not perfect, but "good enough"
I had to narrow the cape to go over the shoulder, then further before attaching it to the centre of the chest. To do this I had to (finally) attach the arms to the doll, too

Back view of the amigurumi, showing Kain's symbol embroidered on the cape

Aradiel,

@knitting @crochet been a few weeks since my last
It was hard to find a good online reference, I'm just using my Kain figure
The cape is meant to wrap all the way around, which I didn't realise at first, so is actually two pieces joined under the medallion
Working on the head crests at the moment, hoping it doesn't look too strange. Forehead being larger makes it difficult to design
Plunging codpiece and grieves to follow

Close up of the head of the amigurumi doll, with a paper template for the crests on top

Aradiel,

@knitting @crochet or not, as my Kain from is now finished!
I think I cut the hair a bit too short, and the greaves aren't both exactly the same size, but to quote a dog whose house is on fire "this is fine"

The only addition I could think of now is to create a mini for it, but I'll move onto something else for now
