Welp, there goes jumping on the bandwagon with an updated TOS where you have no choice but to let them use your data to train their model. At least I have a month to find an alternative.

I contacted to ask if there was a way to opt-out of their new TOS forcing users to hand over private data to train their AI model. This was their unsurprising, but still ridiculous response:

"We are not offering an opt-out, but as mentioned in our blog, we are committed to having controls around customer privacy and confidentiality as we integrate AI into Sentry.”

If you want to let them know how you feel about the new TOS, the email address is: legal-support@sentry.io

I don't follow the much these days but I still think the biggest missed opportunity was not doing a show about right after End Game.

Make it an 8 episode mini-series set entirely in the office of a therapist where Robert Reynolds recaps everything that happened in the MCU up to that point but with a twist that he was there helping as The Sentry and The Void possesses a 7th infinity gem.

The therapist assumes that he's making it all up to cope with trauma. He couldn't handle being powerless in the face of all the craziness in the MCU so he imagined a version of events where he was powerful enough to help. The therapist is willing to listen and play along because they think it will help Reynolds feel comfortable enough to open up.

Functionally, the purpose of the show would be an on ramp for people who want to get in to the MCU but are only willing to invest 3 hours instead of 120. Existing MCU fans would be interested because it's also a vehicle for retcons that set up phase 4. And comic book fandom creators would go nuts over it because a number of them love The Sentry.

Personally, I'd want it because I really want to see a super hero with a disability get top billing. For those who don't know, Reynolds is a superman expy and one of the most powerful characters in Marvel comics. The reason you haven't heard of him is because he made the world forget he used to be one of the most powerful heroes. Why did he do that? When he draws on his powers it opens the door to let an entity called The Void to enter our reality and, as powerful as he is, the Void is stronger—capable of killing all life in the universe at a minimum.

That has given him agoraphobia. When he sees someone in need, he wants to help and knows that he has the power to do so but is terrified that if he uses any of his power for something other than holding the door closed, the Void might escape and it would be his fault trillions die before it is beaten back. On some days, he has enough self control and confidence that he can be a hero. On other days, Reed Richards comes to his door to tell him "no one else is strong enough to stop the villain, we need you to save the world." yet Reynolds can only say, "I don't have enough spoons."

It also has the virtue of being cheap to produce. Most of the run time of each episode is two unpowered individuals talking in a room interspersed with clips. That gives them a decent chunk of budget to spend on editing him in to some of those clips and guest appearances.

It's just such an obvious and needed show that also gives them disability representation that I have no idea how they missed it.

Let's add to the list of projects I hate… oh wait, it was already there because of its baroque, constantly broken test suite.

A trivial fix is sitting there for 2.5 months now, and the only thing replying is their bleeping useless bot that insists that it surely must be stale! Ofc, because if you continue ignoring a bug it magically fixes itself, even though the PR still cleanly applies. Argv!
