Two high school young fellas working at my local Subway, almost doubled-over laughing at a guy parking his oversized truck in a compact space. Then, went on to bash the silliness of men driving big trucks. #thekidsarealright
Now my eldest is crying because three of their classmates talked enthusiastically about their parents being in the anti-trans "Million Man March", which is devoted to the proposition of stopping kids from learning about the reality of trans people in society.
So, over on the Nazi Bird Site, I see “Leave Our Kids Alone” is trending.
This is, of course, nothing more than the fanatics digging up the long buried corpse of “gays are coming for your children”. They’ve dressed it in drag, and now it’s “the trans are coming for your kids” - but like most zombies, you can’t do much to cover up the rotting corpse of bigotry.
All this so they can whine (again) about sex ed curriculum in schools that talks about icky things. /1
Before you complain about how "kids don't want to learn anything these days", just think about how they're memorizing over 800 different pokémon. Don't you forget to teach them, they won't forget.
Today I spotted all four of the gosling creches I've been observing this past month:
They are now fully grown and majoring in #philosophy (shown here working together to distribute their thesis to however many other geese--or perhaps alien visitors--might be passing over the lake).
I'm so impressed that these #students were so brave in a state like #Kentucky but it wasn't until u read about the #allyship of Principal Sherri Duffs that I cried.
This is inspirational.
(qualifier: Just got home from a painful medical procedure and coming down from adrenaline but still.)
In other news, my students routinely give me so much hope for the future of our profession. My attempt to capture some of their unfiltered comments in the wrap-up session of Complete, Safe, Equitable Streets last week:
Weil die Gehwege zu schmal sind um nebeneinander zu laufen und zu quatschen, laufen diese Jugendlichen einfach mitten auf der Straße. #theKidsAreAlright
