HDmenu, a new launcher for hard drive adapted computers games https://forums.atariage.com/topic/358106-hdmenu-game-launcher/

In a strange moment of bloody-mindedness and creativity, I think I’ve got the first demo screen well on the way for my next production. If anything, it runs too fast at the moment….

I have a name, a deadline and a notebook full of scribbles and ideas. We are go for June’s demoparty!

Here’s an Atari Mega ST ad from Atari Explorer, July/August 1988.
“At almost half the price of a Macintosh, it looks even better.”

Committing a bit of software archival. AHCC is an open source (GPL v2) replacement for the Pure C (Turbo C) compiler for the Atari ST.

The author's website has vanished, and this was obtained via an archive.org snapshot (which sadly is missing the changelog, though everything else is intact).

The opening sequence of Shadow of the Beast II on Amiga ❄️ (1990)

As good as ever, despite its age 😍

And the Game Over sequence from Shadow of the Beast II 🤩

This music can also be heard in an episode of Miami Vice: Hostile Takeover (S05 - E01, 1988)

Strangely enough, this sample does not appear on the TV series soundtrack!

Tonight I completed a proof-of-concept for a "Wrath of Khan"-inspired animated IGS main menu for my BBS, "Guardian of Forever." 🖖

If you're wondering what IGS is, it stands for "Instant Graphics and Sound." Basically an earlier version of RIPscrip, for the Atari ST.

You can learn more on Break Into Chat: https://breakintochat.com/wiki/IGS

Or see this thread: https://digipres.club/@kirkman/110395608293646885

An animation shows the shields going up around the U.S.S. Enterprise before displaying the main menu for a bulletin board system.

My mini-megademo is complete. Last night I built the floppy image and it's now on its own little site. I've also logged it on DemoZoo too.

I'm feeling pleased that after all these years, I've finally finished it. Whilst it won't set the world alight, I've had some lovely feedback so far.

Feel free to download.

Joust on Atari ST ⚔️ (1986)

One of my favorite games on this computer 😍

With two players, it was even more fun! 🕹️

You could cooperate. Or attack each other 😁 (Oops!)

Quanti sono i Bonus in Lupo Alberto the Videogame?
Tanti!

Molti sono specifici solo per alcuni livelli e sono nascosti in posizioni predefinite.
Poi ci sono i Super-Bonus che, come nelle migliori tradizioni platform, compaiono a fronte di particolari azioni.

My distractionless writing environment. A computer slightly older than me with a single-tasking OS and music coming from a cassette tape (tape deck is out of view). My commitment to older tech isn’t a gimmick — I’ve learned recently that it actually helps me focus.

The official announcement of Gobliins 6 made me want to play it again!

But I've got another game to finish first.

Well, I just placed orders for boards and parts to build a new Lisa 2/5 around my existing Lisa CPU card, the only part of a Lisa I’ve ever owned.

I would never have thought this was possible if it weren’t for the work of @DosFox who recently built the first new Lisa since 1986! Thanks for the inspiration!

I’ll continue this thread as parts roll in. I may ask (beg) if folks have some parts in your bins! 😀

Wait, what’s this? It looks like an Atari ST screen? And it’s running on my ?!

This is from Digital Research (the CP/M folks) for the .

The Lisa and GEMDOS was the first development kit for Atari ST TOS which I find fascinating.

It can boot from both floppy () or install it to the ProFile ().

I followed these instructions:

https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/gemdos-on-the-lisa-can-be-built-again.35896/

A screenshot of the GEM desktop environment. It looks almost like the Atari ST TOS desktop and fairly reminiscent of the LisaOS.

There’s also an apps disk with a couple of programs. I think well behaved Atari ST programs will run on Lisa GEMDOS directly.

This is 1st Word Processor which I believe was for Atari ST. The font in the document is a little weird but otherwise works fine!

Screenshot of the 1st Word Processor with a document open that says Hello World, a greeting about what it is, and todays date.
