All of this points to the power possessed by a superior personality. On the one hand, such a man will have a view of the real sentiments of the great mass of humanity and therefore cannot be deceived; on the other, he will impress the people so profoundly, by his mere existence and by the impact of his personality, that …
Richard Rohr's contemplation inspired me to write about my own difficulty facing reality as my dog approaches the end of her life. Find my blog post here: https://www.spiritualbnr.org/living-in-reality
Richard Rohr reminds us that the self is a small, petty product of the ego, but the Self is everything. "People with a distorted image of self, world, or God will be largely incapable of experiencing what is Really Real in the world." Prolly explains why, everytime I felt burnt out and sought out a different career path, then threw the switch and continued to clackity clackity clack down that other track...
I always came back. In fact, Looking back, it should have been obvious - why would someone go to bed with a technical journal or some textbook on IT by choice when they've left (or so they thought) that career for a new and unrelated one?
I hope you're well. In February, I spent some time with the website maintenance, and now am back with new content. Starting a new month with another "Moments" collection titled "Phantom Flowers".
I'M SITTING DOWN YOU GUYS!
And taking a moment with #rumi 💖
"We have borrowed these clothes,
these time and place personalities,
from a light, and when we praise,
we're pouring them back in." #sitTogether#meditation#contemplation
Inspired by the autumn season, in today's "Moments: Mist among grasses" collection, I contemplate falling leaves. You can also find a gentle reminder to examine narratives, a quote by Huang Po expressing his understanding of the Buddha-Nature, a piece of sumi-e painting, and as always, some haiku.
In today's "Moments: A Ladybug Leaps into the Sky", I reflect on the joy of the precepts we take in the Zen tradition. You will also find a few haiku, wise words from Dipa Ma, and one silly piece about cloud thieves. You perhaps met one of them too!
In today's "Moments of October: Sky and Water Merging", you will find a couple of haiku from a garden, wisdom from Zen Master Hongzhi, Basho's playful moon haiku, a cup of coffee, a bunny, and a sumi-e painting.
Two Men Contemplating the Moon (1820s) by #German#Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840).
These two figures are seen from behind so that the viewer may participate in their communion with nature. They have been identified as Friedrich, at right, and his friend and disciple August Heinrich (1794–1822). Fascination with the moon ran high among the German Romantics, who regarded the motif as an object of pious #contemplation
Today's post touches on marketing and scam calls, anger and kindness, waters and canyons, and divorced mothers. So, it's quite a mix! It's also the first time I got enough courage to publish some of my haiku and senryu on the blog.
