Yedioth Ahronoth Hebrew newspaper: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering closing the #Israeli#embassy in #Ireland due to its blatant anti-Israel stance, which came to light yesterday (Wednesday) when it announced, along with #Spain and #Norway, recognition of the #Palestinian state.
The most important group of #ambassadors to Madrid were the French ambassador, the Imperial ambassador to the Empire, the nuncio, and the Venetian ambassador.
Madrid did not have a diplomatic district. Diplomatic #envoys did enjoy immunity in the #embassy, with the king himself offering them lodgings for rent upon their arrival. Nevertheless, the ambassadors complained of the difficulties in gaining an audience with the ruler.
Following the union of the Portuguese and Spanish crowns in 1580, a global dimension of Spanish #diplomacy was developed which enhanced the reputation of the Spanish kings. (5/n)
So Iran’s mullah regime can go jump off a cliff as far as I’m concerned (and the sooner the better for the sake of the Iranian people) but it’s amazing to read articles in Western media where it’s not even mentioned that Iran retaliated because Israel bombed their freaking embassy.
Also, little reminder: Israel – hand in hand with its buddies, the US, UK, Germany… – is busy carrying out the genocide of the Palestinian people.
Also, contrary to what you might be reading, I don’t think Iran’s attack was a failure at all. Clearly they got some very valuable data out of it and, beyond that, I’ve seen estimates that it cost Israel and its allies over a billion dollars to thwart the attack while it cost Iran around 10% of that to stage it. The only way Israel & co. could have lost more money more quickly is if they’d hired Elon Musk as CEO.
Due to rising tensions between Iran and Israel, the #Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to close the #embassy in the Iranian capital #Tehran tomorrow. The consulate in the Iraqi city of Erbil will also remain closed as a precaution. Normally both posts are open on Sundays because that is the start of the working week.
The #US#Embassy in #Berlin is looking for staff with ads in the S-Bahn trains. Their main argument "Are you interested in 9 additional public holidays each year?" Is that the famous protestant work ethic they are promoting here?
An #explosion rocked a concert hall in the Moscow region & several #gunmen opened fire on theatergoers Fri evening, acc/to Russian authorities & videos from the scene, a deadly attack >1 week after #Putin was re-elected.
The #Kremlin has yet to comment on the attack. But a speech by #Putin to #Russia’s domestic #intelligence agency, the #FSB, on Tues now looms large. He had dismissed the #UnitedStates#Embassy’s earlier #SecurityAlert about a possible #TerroristAttack in #Moscow as “obvious blackmail.” He had also claimed, w/o evidence, that #Ukraine was seeking to carry out attacks inside Russia “in places where people gather in large numbers.”
The #UnitedStates#Embassy in #Moscow issued a #security alert on Mar 7, warning that its personnel were “monitoring reports that #extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts.”
The statement warned Americans that an attack could take place in the next 48 hrs.
