Loblaws owns an obscene amount of land through their subsidiary Choice Properties.
Their newest project is a massive 1.2 million-sq-ft distribution centre at Woodbine Ave & Green Lane near Newmarket..💥.. located right beside Premier Ford's proposed Bradford Bypass.
Despite running directly through the #Greenbelt, the bypass is a done deal. Remember #DougFord's newest legislation aimed at preventing any court challenges from stopping construction on that highway?? 🤔
The #Ontario conservative government is now considering changes to the province's environmental laws that would make it easier for the #DougFord govt to block lawsuits from landowners and allow the govt to fast-track highway projects.
The new laws are aimed at preventing court challenges from stopping construction of Highway 413 & the Bradford Bypass.
REMINDER: Jamil Jivani, the Conservative Party’s candidate for #Durham, doesn’t live in Durham.
He’s never lived in Durham.
He’s a parachute candidate who has absolutely no connection to the riding and every conservative operative across Canada is helping him cover up his #antiGay#antiVax#antiScience views. Bell Media fired him in 2023 for his discriminatory comments
Pierre #Poilievre's parachute candidate, Jamil Jivani, is running in Durham riding, east of Toronto, a region which covers Scugog, Uxbridge & Clarington.
Remember Clarington's infamous Mr. X and Premier Ford's #Greenbelt scandal?
Most recently, Durham was MP Erin O'Toole's riding, hence the by-election.
Provincially, Durham is held by MPP Todd J. McCarthy, who is currently in the news covering up the latest #DougFord scandal, the ServiceOntario Staples deal.
FFS The province of #Ontario is being run on burner phones and hotmail accts. You're not a high school anymore, Premier.
"Ford's office "was far more involved" in the Greenbelt land swap than the premier has maintained — It is unclear why personal email accounts were being used to conduct official government business."
👉 "Apparently in #Ontario according to Premier Ford, waiting in line in a crowded Beer Store is a more urgent problem requiring prompt action than waiting in line for care in a crowded Emergency Room."
@gemelliz Ontario has a government that promised not to touch the #greenbelt and once elected, went back on that promise. Then they got so much blowback from the electorate, that they spent months reversing their poorly thought out decisions and now they announce that beer is coming to corner stores - in 2 years time.
I’m pretty sure even chatGPT wouldn’t say “Sell #Beer in corner stores” when asked “What should an effective Government do?”
"Emergency rooms are closed, there's a nursing shortage, a housing crisis, classrooms are over crowded, and Covid deaths are on the rise, but don't worry folks, the Ontario Conservatives are once again laser-focused on making it slightly easier for us to get beer."
With availability starting in 2026. An election year.
If you are voting in the #ONLP election remember Bonnie Crombie is a Conservative and if you value the #greenbelt and #healthcare, don’t vote for her. #onpoli
"OPINION: The PCs have reversed their attempted changes to the Greenbelt and municipal official plans — and given themselves a new set of political obstacles"
"The Progressive Conservative government is not holding public hearings into its new Greenbelt protection law because most Ontarians “don’t give two hoots about that,” says Premier Doug Ford."
One hour of committee hearings is scheduled for Bill 136, the Greenbelt Statute Law Amendment Act.
Over the next three years, the Federal government is building more than 1,200 homes in #Kitchener. The $42.4 million federal investment encourages high and medium density around Kitchener’s Light Rail #transit stations.
Just like the #greenbelt - the Ontario Government tries to ‘fix’ the wrong thing and by that I mean make sure money goes to party supporters and not the people of Ontario.
“Ontario’s Attorney General estimates 34 per cent of hospitals in the province have unused operating room capacity. The report recommends taking advantage of that unused space instead of moving surgeries outside of hospitals by staffing them.”
Looks as though Doug Ford’s plan to move $8 Billion of value in #Greenbelt lands from public holdings to his buddies, allegedly, is just as corrupt as it smelled.
Another day, another #Ontario real estate swindle - the usual suspects...
NEW: The Ford government has rezoned a golf club located in the Greenbelt after direct request. The golf course was recently purchased by the Rice Group, the de Gasperis family & Mario Giampietri of Geranium Homes. Coincidentally, the govt's proposed Highway 413, is planned to run just two kilometres north of the golf course. 🤷♀️
It was a major PC donor, Mr. Quinto Annibale, who asked MPP Steve Clark to remove #Greenbelt protections from the newly purchased golf course in Caledon, mentioned above.
Mr. Annibale was also recently appointed by Premier Ford as vice-chair of the LCBO and is the same person who founded 'Vaughan Working Families' and spent $200K on ads bashing teachers.
Mr. Annibale is on the right in this group photo with Ontario's Minister of Education, Stephen #Lecce.
“Keep your mouth shut and stick to it” & “in for a rough ride, hold the line ‘it’s all about housing’” - quotes from #RyanAmato in documents released on #DougFord's #greenbelt scandal
There's also an intriguing reference to Cherrywood, the site owned by TACC’s Silvio #DeGasperis and the largest single chunk of land taken out of the Greenbelt. An attendee at a briefing with the housing minister’s office said the ministry was doing “just what (the) owner asked for.”
#RyanAmato directed senior ministry staff to keep their mouths shut about the #greenbelt changes
maps detailing some of the preferred developer properties needed to be provided to #DougFord’s office
Cabinet-privilege redactions were applied during September and early October 2022 even though the Minister and the Premier claimed under oath that they did not know about the changes until late October
