I was invited to Vincent Pradeille's YouTube channel to share some advanced Swift tips and insights from my new book "Swift Gems" 📘✨ The video is now live, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=557nJYhPb7Y
Hi there im back with Day 49 of #100DaysofCosmoPic 🙋♂️ Today I used a really cool blog article written by my friend @JagCesar to change how my App Intents are displayed in the Shortcuts app and in spotlight search 😍 I also refined the favorites and history lists with some smooth animations 🤤
If you want to make your App intents look stylish too, here you go:
What are folks' strategies with using the StoreKit 'requestReview' call? Given that Apple controls when the user sees this, I often see advice that you should be pretty aggressive with calling this - is this how you call it?
Have you seen any evidence that you're penalized with this strategy? I have an app that gets pretty decent volume, and is calling this aggressively, but is getting very few ratings 🤔
Thanks to @renssies, I got the word of the day widget for Rizzference properly updating!
Next stop, a widget for your favorite words… which will be a massive challenge 😅 I’m storing the favorite words in the application support directory as JSON. Does anyone have any tips on how to load them/let the user choose which word to show in the widget from the words they favorited?
Ack, can’t find it now, but does anyone have the link for that Swift init vs. type name for initialisation thread that was on the Swift forums? #iosdev
I just published a post on how to use convertFromSnakeCase strategy in JSONDecoder to automatically map JSON snake case keys to Swift camel case properties. This approach can keep our Swift code clean and consistent, simplifying model definitions: https://nilcoalescing.com/blog/AutoConvertJsonSnakeCaseToSwiftCamelCaseProperties/
I have a question for the Swift experts that know widgets:
Would this refresh the widget once a day? Please ignore any weird stylistic choices, I just wanted to quickly scrape something together and beautify it later once I know it actually works 😂
