Mapping all hedges in France, using high resolution images
Understanding the spatial distribution and temporal changes of landscape features such as hedges is crucial. Using high resolution images, we mapped all of them.
@governa I do especially like @organicmaps as my backup mapping application, both for work and the side job. Both often involve going where there's little or no cell signal, so the ability to pre-download sections of map is HUGE. With the current #openstreetmap limitations in my area, it can't always get the fastest route, but so far always gets me there. Plus, it motivates me to get back into #osm to update the #maps and stay active.

I find contributing to #OSM very good for my #mentalhealth. I pick an unmapped area, close to the beach or in the mountain and enjoy adding pools or rural areas.

Okay, if you have 250 GB of disk space available, and a few gigs of RAM, #KomootPhoton is impressive. A query like localhost:2322/api?q=rathausstr+17, with no further qualifiers, bounding box, or whatever, returned after 1048 ms.
That's on my laptop. Searching over all of the addresses on the globe.
Quando apro #OSM nel browser, come faccio a visualizzare i dettagli di un POI? Mettiamo caso che la mappa sia sul centro di Milano ed ho il POI "Duomo di Milano" a portata di click. So per certo che ci sono informazioni aggiuntive e so di poterle raggiungere cliccando col tasto dx del mouse, selezionando ricerca elementi e poi andando a pescare nell'elenco a sinistra la struttura.Non c'è un modo per cliccare direttamente sul nome della struttura sulla mappa ed avere i dettagli, tipo Google Maps?

This is a BFD, folks. Open Social Media (#OSM)* is here, and it can be made almost dictator-proof (but nothing can be asshole proof).
I just can’t call it a “fediverse” anymore. It’s too casual for such a big concept that must accommodate all sorts of protocols, apps, and methods. I like writing “OSM, Open web and Open social.” They all convey the same idea, relatively unambiguously, no matter which variant is used in a given context.
The 7th OSM Delhi mapping party is coming up! Newcomers will learn to use and edit OSM, experienced editors will learn new techniques, and together we will improve OSM's coverage. No experience with maps needed, so invite all your friends!
