Art cannot be destroyed. It will live on as long as humanity lives on. Those trying to erase an idea/any form of art through censorship are engaging in a futile attempt. The existence of this book itself is a testament of this fact.

I find this so funny without context!

Fathers and Sons by Turgenev is an interesting character study of Bazarov, a self-proclaimed nihilist in the backdrop of the ideological differences between the “fathers” and “sons”. It also looks at the inevitability of the generational gap between sons (Bazarov and Arkady) and their respective fathers, and the futility of trying to reject emotions. (details linked)

Indeed; the confusion has been going on for over 2000 yrs...🤣 🙄
(Prisoner = Yeshua/Jesus)

"‘These good people,’ the prisoner spoke and, hastily adding ‘Hegemon’, went on: ‘... haven’t any learning and have confused everything I told them. Generally, I’m beginning to be afraid that this confusion may go on for a very long time. And all because he writes down the things I say incorrectly.’" from by

Wow, just wow, Bazarov. And I thought I couldn't like you less.

"‘Why don’t you want to allow the idea of freedom of thought among women?’ he asked under his breath.
‘Because, mate, in my view, the only ones among women who think freely are bloody freaks.’"

@bookstodon Bazarov had even made fun of his cello playing, saying that playing the cello is not a fitting activity for a man of his age, thankfully out of his hearing.

So many of us have probably been convinced how "out of date"/ "uncool" people of older generations have been. Now that I am older, I think that we were probably not always fair in our assessment, or our behavior

For context, these lines refer to people shouting and unburdening themselves in taverns. I think these lines are a fitting testament to the state of social media now. A very astute comment on the unchanging nature of human behaviour over time.
This quote is taken from The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
