Music question today: does anyone remember the concert that was aired on TV and featured Ricky Martin singing Livin la Vida Loca, and also featured Shania Twain singing a song I can’t remember? Ricky has on stage with 2 or more of those giant inflatable tube fancy guys. I think it was 1999, but I can’t find video of it online. Maybe princes trust concert? Not the in the park one.
TFW you realize that Star Wars is the story of an orphaned boy who became radicalized after a military strike kills his family. He is indoctrinated into an ancient religion, joins a band of insurgents, and carries out a terrorist attack that kills 300,000 people.
#GreatAlbums1990s - #ShaniaTwain – #ComeOnOver (1997). The guitars twang and the odd fiddle invades the mix, but this is pop music by any sane definition. Mutt Lange’s glistening production is sweet enough to rot teeth, but there’s no arguing with the craft of songs like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “You’re Still the One.” Plus, as Klosterman notes, for every person who bought Live Through This, 14 bought a copy of Shania – and guess who Taylor Swift prefers.
My memories of Shania will always be tied to my mum having Come On Over on cassette and playing it every time we were in the car. Mum still does it but the cassette has been upgraded to an iPod mini 😂
That, and how god damn MFing amazing she looks in this video
Eilleen Regina "Shania" Twain, also known as the “Queen of Country Pop”, is one of the best selling artists of all time.
Working with Robert John “Mutt” Lange, she redefined what was possible as a country artist. The country-rock sound she pioneered, gave us the second highest-selling album in music history by any female, any genre. (An achievement which is unlikely to ever be surpassed)
