I have a weird fascination with HOA’s, they seem like such a weird thing to me. I have never lived anywhere where there is an HOA and never would but I enjoy hearing stories about them. Are you guys pro or anti HOA’s? Or no opinion? Any good stories?

I’m just gonna pop in here with a Not All HOAs.🤣 I live in a small group of 10 duplex houses. The HOA contracts for communal services like yard work, snow and trash removal, and exterior maintenance of all units. The HOA negotiates an insurance policy covering all exterior damage. They deal with all issues regarding these services so I don’t have to. If I have a complaint with any of it, they deal with it. We have a hard time getting anyone to serve on the HOA. Perfect? No. Ok? Yes.

Most of us are retired, so we have loads of free time, but better things to do with it than do this kind of stuff. I myself am lazy and did not get the Mr. Goodwrench gene so I have no aptitude nor inclination to do my own repairs. It’s the best of all possible worlds for me. I recognize that we might be outliers.

We’re in Colorado, and there are state laws here that regulate and tend to prevent a lot of the egregious behavior of the HOAs that get all the publicity. Again, perfect? No. Good enough? Yes. As always, your mileage may vary.

I’ve mentioned my theory elsewhere, but it hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s the eyes. Look at Jr.’s honey, Guilefoyle, her eyes. She’s big time zombified and actually looks unwell recently. Noem and a couple women floating around Trump all do their eyes up like Melania’s. As if they want to look like her. As if that’s going to make Trump like them more. It’s very creepy. What he evidently really likes though is big boobs. Like Stormy’s.

Made dinner reservations in Santa Fe for the boy's upcoming 19th birthday. He requested we go up specifically as we have spent the last 10 or so years doing just this for special occasions. Santa Fe is still magical for us. :)

He also requested we visit the violin shop while there. I think he wants a viola as even full size violins are now too small for him. He is a beanpole. Long and lanky. But he can tear up a string instrument. He's pretty good. :)

If there is one, I’m curious to know its “etymology”—if that’s the right term. I don’t know ASL or any other SL, but have a modicum of linguistic interest and knowledge, and presume that, as with any language, there are rules for that sort of thing. (Even when I’m not high that shit fascinates me. If you can point me at a book that might cover that kind of stuff, that’d be cool.)

There’s still a drive-in in my town. It’s days are numbered probably, because in the last two years new housing subdivisions have gone up on 3 sides, and I figure it’s just a matter of time before residents start complaining about the noise and traffic. Never mind it’s been there for 40-50 years or so.

    Same with housing. Studies done in major US (!) cities show that giving people their own space to live reduces municipal costs for intervention services like ERs and such. But we can’t do that. That’s socialism. Well, yeah. Duh. Tax the ones with all the money. They’re not doing anything with it. They won’t even notice it’s gone.
