I haven't touched watercolors since October - a reminder of how full and stressful a time it has been. Not that the stress got less, but trying hard to truly disconnect this week.
As a palette-cleanser from my daily #Inktober#urbansketching, a watercolor of 10 years ago from life (our town’s best model). I posted another from that session, which was better and simpler. #WaterColor No underdrawing, as has often been my approach. #premiercoup
Hey hey folks who love their Lamy fountain pens! :)
Have you found a black waterproof ink that works for you? I'm finding that carbon black ink (my absolute fave) seems to gum up the works after a time. Is there an additive I can add to the ink so this doesn't happen? Or just a different ink that still works well for sketching?
I just found this Sailor Fude DE Mannen in a bin of old supplies. I was trying to remember why I wasn't into it, then I tried cleaning it. Am I right that you can't separate the nib from the grip? I was pulling hard. I didn't get my multi-tool, I feared the ridges on the pliers would damage the feed.
Cleaned it as best as I could, added carbon black ink, it worked for a bit, I left it for half an hour, now it's clogged. Is this generally considered a good pen?
Off topic: in summer I keep a sketch-diary - helps me remember the obscure and beautiful.
This years book is almost full, so here a few outtakes #urbansketching that I liked!
"Oldtown" This thatched cottage in the east of #Ireland is your early #painting today. One day last year after #cycling from Ashton in County Meath to Garristown in the very north of County #Dublin I sketched for a while before I cycled on to the very small village of Oldtown where I came across this delightful cottage and fabulous tree. So I sat on a wall by a water pump and painted it. #Art#MastoArt#UrbanSketching#Artist#MastoDaoine#Watercolour

I’ll be meeting up with my urban sketching group tomorrow. Trawling through my old sketches I thought you might enjoy this sketch made at the local farmers market #Launceston#Watercolour#Pen#UrbanSketching
Bike ride today. Was planning about 30 miles. Did 6. Hot, grumpy. Was gonna pack it in but then remembered I had planned to go see the Yoda statue at Letterman in the Presidio. Then I had some lunch. Then I went to Tunnel Tops and painted. Then Sophia, my new friend, decided she wanted to try watercolor painting too. Best day ever. #BikeTooter#RecumbentTrike#cycling#UrbanSketching#USk#watercolor#drawing#TunnelTopsPark
