OK, jetzt weiß ich auch, warum mir die Mastodon-vs-kommerzielle-Plattform-Diskussion so bekannt vorkommt. Das ist die Linux-vs-Windows-Diskussion von vor 15 Jahren: "Ihr müsst nur alle eure Hobbys aufgeben und diese zehn anderen Tools noch lernen, dann kann das alles, was das kommerzielle System kann, und noch viiiel mehr!" 😅 Ich bin alt.

Die Komplexität eines Problems lässt sich nicht dadurch reduzieren, dass man sie hinter einer hübschen Oberfläche versteckt.

Das ermöglicht einen Perspektivwechsel. Twitter ist nämlich gar nicht einfach zu bedienen. Es fühlt sich nur so an.

Die Grundfunktionen wie Lesen und z.B. "toll 🤩!" Antworten sind banal.
Aber was sind DruKos, DrüKos, Zitate, Anworten, Likes, etc. denn konkret? Da haben wir alle Monate für gebraucht, das zu verstehen.
Schon mal versucht, ein Video zu posten?

Twitter hat ja auch nur eine vergleichsweise kleine Nutzerbasis, WEIL es so kompliziert ist.
Die Poweruser haben sich da halt eingearbeitet. Und mussten dazu alle "Hobbys aufgeben", um die neun Tools zu lernen, die das kommerzielle System geboten hat.

Ich habe doch selber zeitweise große Teile des Tages dort verbracht. Und trotzdem war mir Vieles immer noch fremd.

Mich erinnert das an Wissenschaftler*innen, die enorm viel Energie in ihr Wissen hineingesteckt haben.

Jetzt kommt eine neue Erkenntnis, die das eigene Wissen widerlegt. Was passiert meistens?

Das Neue wird abgelehnt. Die alte Generation muss erst wegsterben, bevor sich neues Wissen durchsetzen kann.

Wer zu Mastodon wechselt, ist einfach nur bereit, die neuen Fakten anzuerkennen.

Fatale Botschaft des -: 🇩🇪 verfehlt seine noch stärker als bisher prognostiziert. Dafür sind die zu wenig ambitionierten Maßnahmen der Bundesregierung beim Verkehr und bei den Gebäuden mitverantwortlich.

Ein Markt ist ein Ort, an dem mehrere Parteien zum Handeln zusammen kommen. Dieser Ort gehört jemandem. Und diese Person/Institution bestimmt die Regeln des Marktes.

Das ist so auf einem Bauernmarkt. Das ist so in einer Volkswirtschaft. Und auch im Europäischen Binnenmarkt.

Der Marktvorsteher oder z.B. die Bundesregierung (durch das BGB) geben die Regeln vor. Ohne Regeln kein Markt.

Ein unregulierter Markt ist also grundsätzlich unlogisch.

    Try out the "Last Year" or "Last Ten Years" tabs in the graphic.

    There was a similar increase a while ago. Seems like a huge correction of abuse or of a fault? Baseline is way lower now, but that already happened a couple of times.

    Google seems to lose half of its index pretty regularly. Maybe it is just the way, how search engines work nowadays.

    We only see our side, where we are rejected. And we wish, it is an accident. But it may not be one.

    It is still Microsoft.

    But when I look at the other graphs, the amount of 130 billion web pages in the index is the accident here. That would be "serious problems", but the other way around. Correcting it, is not a problem (in my view).

    Most bigots don't use slurs.

    But they will harass you for no reason.

    They will disregard your boundaries.

    They will sea lion you for info that is easy to find.

    They will attempt to insult you but call it a 'joke' and blame you for being 'too sensitive.'

    They will invite their friends to dogpile and flood your timeline with nonsense.

    They will gaslight and try to make you believe what you're seeing/feeling isn't real.

    But most will not use slurs because they know that's what most people are looking for.

    Pay attention to behavior. Using slurs is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to identifying hateful people.

    Use "slurs" against bigots and they are easily offended. I try to always be polite (or better friendly) but can be pretty fast in dropping one or two harsh words in between.

    It happens in a strange mixture of "accidentally" and "strategic planning". Sometimes, it is a good way to end a conversation from my side.
    But it needs to be in one of the first replies. If you drop it later, when emotions run high, you are the hateful person.

    Im letzten Jahrzehnt gab es zarte Versuche der Transparenz innerhalb der Politik, auch dank Transparency oder Abgeordnetenwatch.

    Demokratisch essentiell wäre das gleiche für Journalist:innen und die, die sich dafür halten.

    Wenn FAZ-Kolumnist:innen oder Springer-Angestellte die Republik dauerhaft in einen Ausnahmezustand versetzten, will ich als Bürger wissen, ob und wann die Damen und Herren an extrem rechten Panels teilgenommen haben oder von wirtschaftsnahen Lobbyverbänden bezahlt werden.

    Ich habe das Gefühl, dass auch nicht mehr Kanzlerkandidat wird.
    Dieser Fehltritt war einfach zu viel und hat ihn ganz grundsätzlich die Unterstützung vieler Menschen gekostet, die ihn ansonsten mit zusammengebissenen Zähnen gewählt hätten.

    Mal schauen, ob eine Gegenkandidatin den Mut hat, dieses traurige Versagen endlich zu beenden.

    Ich neige ja zu der Theorie, gerade auch wegen der jüngsten CDU-AfD-Diskurskatastrophen, dass das Autoritär oder Faschistisch werden von liberalen, Partei/Parlamentsdemokratien nicht primär durch Evil Genius & Facho-Masterminds passiert, sondern weil die systematisch gesellschaftlich phantasielose Männer (& ein paar assorted Frauen) aus dem Bürgertum an die Macht befördert, die dann in Krisen Schritt für Schritt in den tänzeln, weil sie nix anderes können.

    I started to accept them some years ago and let most of them sit on my face. They probably stay there only for a couple of seconds and lift off soon.

    Most insects don't even need to be escorted outside and find their way out in a couple of minutes. Only when it is dark outside, they are trapped by the light.

    Flies sitting on my hand can be really persevering. But it can be fun to watch them grooming.

    For me, it's all about mental health, even if it sounds weird. I have a harder time to deal with the state of misinformation than reading about climate science. I can use this to make better decisions and become more active. More self-efficacy feels healthy. Better knowledge is a protective layer against all the mass-gaslighting efforts that pretend it's all fine.

    snake_case for variables.

    I rely on my bike and need to trust it. If e.g. the handlebar breaks during a fast ride, it will cause much harm to me.

    That is, why I hate, when people manipulate something in the bicycle garage, like stealing the valve or other small parts.

    After such a situation, I realized, that I see my bike a little bit like a horse.
    There is a deep connection between a cyclist and the bike. And it is not something of worth, you can buy.

    That could be the difference to cars.

    They seem small, but it hurts in the long run.
    Checking your bike thoroughly always before starting a ride. The constant costs of replacing and repairing parts. And more.

    I had a neighbour in the house, who punctured my wheels once a week, because he didn't like my face. (And died of a heart attack.)

    I stopped riding for 2 years completely because of insecurities.

    Wir haben heute schweren Herzens entscheiden, das Hackerethik-Kunstprojekt für's auf den Congress im Winter zu verschieben. 🥲 Es ist einfach zu viel los und zu viele widrige Umstände.
    Ich schaffe es aber sicherlich, eine kleine Vorschau mitzubringen. Vielleicht projiziert ans Workshopzelt der , falls das Deko-Team einverstanden ist!

    Ich freue mich jetzt jedenfalls auf zumindest ein paar freie Tage vor dem Camp. Vielleicht gibt's noch das eine oder andere Stickerdesign!
