I keep going to Twitter, as the bird.makeup service is not reliably reposting to Mastodon via the mirror accounts. It’s a shame the project is on SourceHut (dealing with outage issues ATM, BTW), as I don’t see a way to report issues. I sent a DM to the project creator a week ago about how to report issues, and he hasn’t responded.
The root problem now is (or at some point was) that the #TwitterAPI stopped returning tweets in chronological order for profiles, so Nitter needs ever more creative ways to get updates. There's a lot of information in https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/983 .
This is a tedious game of cat and mouse so people tend to get burnt out.
If you're using #Twitter and you need to batch-save tweets from some feeds and don't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for the API, and you don't need it to run completely automatically, I made a Ruby gem that extracts tweet data from browser JSON responses: https://github.com/mackuba/bad_pigeon#TwitterAPI
Is there any useful precedent to sanction the EC for flouting #CJEU rulings? I can only think of T-329/17 (against EFSA) and C-121/21 (against Poland).
Preliminary injunctions to suspend or disapply a Commission Implementing Decision while waiting for a new CJEU preliminary ruling? Fines (paid to whom?)? Awards of legal costs to #NOYB including extrajudicial costs?

@egonw Seems a bit overkill: who's going to to crosslink proprietary identifiers other than Wikidata? (They could even be personal data, so it helps to have some indication of notability to override that.)
But maybe someone who's already collecting them (or has and doesn't mind losing #TwitterAPI access) could try #Wikibase (https://socialblade.com ?). Waive the #DatabaseRights on the SPARQL endpoint and see how long it takes until the source of 99 % of the PD data sues. Useful precedent!
Interesting theory/perspective from the Nitter GitHub issue comments on the "loginwall" of Twitter.
According to "Nitrousoxide", blocking non-user visitors from from viewing tweets reduces the load tremendously, which seems quite suspicious procedure to execute at the end of the month.
These changes suggest Twitter's hosting providers are shutting down their servers and thus Twitter is going to shut down in the near future.
Sending coffee to all the webdevs whose bosses are frantically screaming at them to "get the Twitter feed back up on the website" while simultaneously praising Melon Usk's "hustle'.
News Explorer had a very neat #Twitter integration, but due to the new API pricing, the dev had to remove it last week (any paid tier would have been financially unsustainable)
Instead, News Explorer now has native… #Mastodon integration
It's really on brand to watch another RSS reader replacing Twitter by Mastodon
I made another open source thing: BadPigeon 🐦 - a tool that lets you export tweets from #Twitter without access to the API, by parsing JSON responses exported from a browser. Intended to be a drop-in replacement for Tweet class from the twitter gem: https://github.com/mackuba/bad_pigeon #Ruby#OpenSource#TwitterAPI
I'm sorry, Twitter is asking for screenshots of empty folders from researchers who opt out of paying "$42,000 a month to access 0.3% of all the tweets posted to the platform"?
Another Twitter U-Turn: Following the restrictions faced by the National Weather Service and the New York subway accounts on the platform, Twitter said: "Verified gov or publicly owned services who tweet weather alerts, transport updates and emergency notifications may use the API, for these critical purposes, for free."
I have a WordPress blog and I just received an email telling me this:
From April 30, 2023 you will no longer be able to share your #WordPress.com posts automatically to #Twitter using Jetpack Social.
Twitter decided, on short notice, to dramatically change the terms and pricing of the #TwitterAPI. We have attempted to work with Twitter in good faith to negotiate new terms, but we have not been able to reach an agreement. As a result, we will need to remove the functionality.
Day 177 and #Twitter users are surprised that #ElonMusk’s decision to remove #bluecheck validation is causing chaos and the creation of impersonation accounts. That could never have been predicted?
#Decentralized#SocialMedia is the solution for exposure to willful and arbitrary behavior by egomaniacal billionaires
/10 Looks like #ElonMusk has just realized that public service announcements are additive to #Twitter. Could be, requiring public agencies pay for access to the #TwitterAPI might cool said organization’s enthusiasm for the #SocialMediaPlatform
it is funny and extremely predictable that twitter appears to not have actually shut down the api tokens that it notified me last week about shutting down. bots still successfully making write (and read!) calls that should not be allowed
It searches for the patterns @user, user@host.tld and host.tld/@user in the screen name, description, location and URL field. It displays them to you in the correct format for easy copying as well as a CSV download that can be imported to #Mastodon.
