I am happy to announce that I fulfilled one of my life goals - to touch a giant #deepsea #isopod - at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Here are this winter’s holiday/new year’s #linoprint cards. This year‘s design is #dragon themed. I‘ve decided to base my card creation on the lunar calendar as it gives me a new animal design “prompt” each year and it means the cards can be used for #lunarnewyear as well western holiday cards.

I feel like my dragon reflects this as it design is a bit of a hybrid between an eastern dragon and a western Lindwurm/Wyrm type.

Trying to challenge myself to draw #fish again on a regular basis - here’s a quick doodle of an albino Acipenser ruthenus aka #sterlet (a type of #sturgeon).

I saw the most adorable little albino specimen the size of a goldfish in a local pet store recently. No idea why they were selling a fish that can grow to around 1m to the general public though.

An older sketch of the Asian Upside-Down #Catfish. It’s called that because it spends most of its life swimming on its back and it has a really cool adaptation to show for it!

You may notice that many animals have an underbelly that is a lighter color than the rest of their body. This is called countershading and helps them blend in with their environment. Well, due to its unique lifestyle, this #fish is reverse-countershaded and its belly is much darker than its back!
