@Ex_spurt@aus.social

He/Him. Your friendly local, mostly retired guy. Likes sciencey stuff, cars (especially the electric and/or heavily armoured kind), wandering around in the bush, mucking around with food. Ex electrician, soldier, salesman, business manager, consultant, public servant. Proud dad and step-dad. Eternally frustrated customer of https://scorpinc.solutions. Partly retired. May randomly talk about #tanks. Opinions are my own and subject to change.

Bought myself a special edition Scrabble set produced for the London Transport Museum (it uses the Johnston typeface). Game with @NarrelleMHarris in progress!

Yes, nothing says rock 'n' roll more than playing Scrabble while drinking herbal tea on New Year's Eve. :)

I loathe writing job applications more than anything and thought that retirement, and partner being in her (hopefully) final job, had ended all that.

Last weekend I was doing them for Ms14. Now I'm doing one for Mr16 🫤

In fairness, they have to give it their best shot first, then I edit the crap out of it and give them back a 'suggested' format

Partner makes mac and cheese for the teenagers and freezes it so they can have it if we are out. Last night we went out but she ordered pizzas for them instead. Mr16 ate his pizza and a garlic bread and then had the mac and cheese as well 😋

Well argued. Netanyahu's terrible leadership is turning Israel into a pariah state, and stoking up resentment that will aid Hamas and its like.

Dear YouTube advertisers,

In all the years I have known YouTube, I have never taken any notice of one of your insufferable interruptions. I couldn't tell you the name of any brand or product that advertised there and couldn't care less about anything other than the quickest way to skip your ad. Of all the platforms, it is the one that generates the least interest in anything it promotes. At best, your efforts have made me watch YouTube less than ever, but I still don't know who you are and I don't give a fuck about your product

If you want to know what scares the fossil fuel companies most look at what the bot armies attack most on social media.

Sustainable superannuation funds are getting smashed with negative comments, which is hilarious when you consider all the proud patriot bogans that these bots purport to be wouldn't give a toss about super or investment funds.

Things like Woodside ads are completely criticism free of course 🤔

    @decryption @az I got the Michelin and will probably get about the same. Regular rotation will help a little but not a lot if it's 4WD. (Rotation isn't just to help with irregular external wear, if your tread wear is even it still improves overall tyre life by evening out the stresses on the internal structure).

    I will try the Hankook after these because I know the product well having worked for them. They are usually Michelin adjacent for wear with low rolling resistance, otherwise I will go to the new Mich Sports 5.

    Heavy car and fast take off equals heavy wear unfortunately. At least it's well and truly compensated by other savings in an EV. I used to cop complaints on Potenzas from V8 Commodore drivers who were battling to make it to the first recommended rotation at 20k! (Holden's recommended tyre pressure was way too low)

    I have very few opinions on Threads but I have heard it is where politicians and brands and journalists who think Mastodon is too complicated hang out and tbh their absence is a big part of what makes my experience here a positive one
