Why Trump is going to the Libertarian Party convention
"Libertarians [are]...starkly at odds with MAGA Republicanism in a number of ways. Trump is an economic protectionist who loves tariffs and who has expressed limited interest in cutting government programs like Medicare and Social Security. He wants to deport immigrants en masse, not let them into the country. He is fervently devoted to an authoritarian theory of governance"
I've a big whish. Please add the possibility to follow a single person from another instance (which is potentially blocked by my instance), via the timeline feature.
It's possible to follow a complete Mastodon instance with #fedilab, but it would be nice to follow only a single account (like @potus), because following @threads.net makes no sense (for me).
@beandev
Yeah, what your saying doesn't make any sense. Its the be equivalent of asking Outlook to let you get emails from yourmom@pornhub.cum even though you're compony IT blocks all email from pornhub on the server side. @apps
@trumpet please stop blocking threads so that I can follow and boost @POTUS
This policy of blocking entire instances simply because you don't like who runs them is silly and detrimental to the Fediverse not to mention our democracy.
@schizanon
Its actually a big part of the fediverse. If you do disagree with policy its pretty easy to port your account to another server that does federate, like hostux.social @trumpet
I don't know who needs to hear this but #TruthSocial, which is running a forked version of Mastodon, does not from the source code appear to have appropriate mitigations in place for CVE-2023-36460, which theoretically allows attackers to create and overwrite any file Mastodon has access to, allowing Denial of Service and arbitrary Remote Code Execution https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-36460 (probably other CVE's as well, but some rely on federation which Truth Social doesn't use?) #infosec
@thor hmmm, that's the opposite of my experience. When it was just me I pretty much never went out to eat. But now with a wife & kids sometimes we are too busy to cook, which seems to have set a bad precedent because now anytime we leave the house the kids seem to expect a Fast Food or Gas station stop. I guess if you prefer not to cook, I could see it because it is less expensive to only have to pay for yourself and not a whole family.
"I'm not a materialist. Love and friendship is reward enough."
Oh, wait, I don't have much of those things either...
I have had some good times as an adult but it was always money that facilitated it, indirectly. I paid for travel to see people or to have them come see me. One of my exes lived with me for free while I worked. Another I wouldn't have met without travelling abroad. I'm also losing contact with old friends because I can't afford to be where they are.
It's not so interesting to own things, but experiences often cost money, and I do want those. You can also use money to improve your health and looks.
It would make more sense to be non-materialistic if I had many non-material assets, such as confidence, a great personality, good looks, a loving family, or a good contact network.
My main non-material asset is just my intellect though, and the main reward you can get in return for that alone is money and status.
@thor when i worked the shop floor i maintained motivation by the line keep going and i wanted to help it moving so the guys after me had something to do. In my office job now, nothing.
I used to wonder why all these treatments you can read about on the Internet are not offered by any of the doctors or therapists I've encountered.
You CAN access those treatments you hear about on the Internet. What they neglect to mention is that you need to be moneyed. It's not offered by the public healthcare sector. You have to go private.
The politicians can say all they want that public healthcare aims to be top standard but that's what we call a good old fashioned lie. It would be too expensive.

"The native of Noblesville, Indiana, made his USL Championship (second division) debut in 2022, appearing in three matches for Indy Eleven."
i need to buy a new #laptop. For the life of me I can't tell what the difference is between processors & how to determine my needs on that front. So little I'm not even sure how to search for it. #Anyhelp? #computer#new#askfedi#ddg#google#intel#amd
I'm getting to the point where I want to ditch Outlook for an alternative. Outlook 2016 was nice, Outlook 365 is horrible, but I can't get Outlook 2016 back :( #microsoft
@Skoop unless you are using an exchange server there's no good reason to use Oulook on desktop. Thunderbird is popular, but I actually prefer SeaMonkey and their oldschool feel.
I always find it idiotic when people argue "Democrats are right wing by european standards"... lol there is no relative standard for center, it is an absolute... what they should say is "democrats are farther right compared to the average in europe". But to suggests they are right of center has little basis in reality. Their policies may not be as extreme left as politicians in europe, but they very clearly are left of neutral/center
@freemo uhm, when you look at right wing as capitalist, and left wing as communist, which is the clear absolute, American Democrats are right wing, period the end. Regardless of what AM talk radio tells you President Biden is 100% in support of capitalism.
how can we do it? At least allow some of us with morals to do "anti-recruiting" but as long as public schools exist we can't allow them to be used as a place to attract cannon fodder
@michigan there is 0 reason you shouldn't be able to get the local school boards to allow you to do so. You might need a 501(c)3. Have you checked with local "Veterans for Peace"?
We have got to put an end to recruiting in Public Schools (tricitytimes-online.com) en-us
