Independence will be good for Scotland and England. Doing my little bit to push it along.
Pronoun: irrelevant except in medical circumstances. Everyone's gender is non-binary. Except in very rare circumstances, their sex is not so.
Here for comment not argument. Name-callers will be blocked. (See. I warned you.)
It’s nice to be nice.

Here’s a thought: isn’t it possible that with control of 40% of Scotland’s spending and 70% of its revenue reserved by Westminster net zero for Scotland is simply not achievable by ScotGov?

Playing devil’s advocate, rampant unionist Kenny Farquarson would of course say that about any candidate he fears may be effective. Not saying that’s the reason, just that a pinch of salt may be advisable. Very.

Interesting thought. “The First Minister must perforce be an MSP, however there is no reason why one of the SNP’s Westminster MPs cannot stand for leadership of the party while being represented in Holyrood by an interim First Minister until he or she can be elected to Holyrood.”

@alanferrier As you posted a few days ago - “The way a government treats refugees is very instructive because it shows you how they would treat the rest of us if they thought they could get away with it.”

I wonder if the current SNP stramash may actually be a good thing, reset the party, and get the focus properly back on independence.

Indyposterboy,
@Indyposterboy@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Frankly pretty fed up of the focus on mitigation over an actual push for Indy. That’s pulled the carpet out from under Yes groups and taken us no further forward. A lot of hard-won momentum has been lost.

Around 50% of Scots support independence, but only 1 of 35 newspapers does. Read the news you're not getting.

The corporate metro-centric media demonstrating once again that they have little interest in Holyrood and even less knowledge of how it works. But no worries, with almost absolute pro-union control of the media in Scotland they will muddy the waters to frighten voters instead of - you know - actually doing their job of explaining things and informing people.

I think this pretty much sums up my outlook in light of the last week’s Scottish political events.

"The company said price inflation in groceries had "lessened substantially"." Which means that food prices are still rising, of course, as are Tesco profits, whilst children suffer from malnutrition and rickets is back. Way to go, Tesco.

Coincidentally the view in England that Brexit was a mistake is now at the 63% level of Scotland's Remain vote in 2016. What England wants is what Scotland gets.

“ . . pro-independence parties should not be standing against each other in a first-past-the-post election . . . it really is particularly odd that the SNP and Greens, who are forever waxing lyrical about how much they get on and about the extreme importance of the Bute House Agreement, seem hellbent on knocking lumps out of each other at the general election like never before.”

@ScepticalScot1 Indeed. I don't see the point of any party standing which doesn't have a chance of a win. Gesture politics in a GE under FPTP is such a waste of time.

Sorry, but describing somebody as 'phobic' because they don't agree with you is lazy. They may indeed be phobic, but just labelling them as such because you disagree is . . unhelpful.

Westminster believes the poor must be made poorer or they won’t work, but the rich won’t work unless they are made richer. Scotland can be better than this.

Hi @BBC_News_Labs Am I being dense, or is there really not a ‘confirm choices’ button on the BBC cookies settings page? https://www.bbc.co.uk/usingthebbc/cookies/how-can-i-change-my-bbc-cookie-settings/

Indyposterboy,

@Wen @BBC_News_Labs Very bad UI, and quite contrary to normal web protocol. Either thoughtless or designed to be opaque.
