Independence will be good for Scotland and England. Doing my little bit to push it along.
Pronoun: irrelevant except in medical circumstances. Everyone's gender is non-binary. Except in very rare circumstances, their sex is not so.
Here for comment not argument. Name-callers will be blocked. (See. I warned you.)
It’s nice to be nice.

Westminster believes the poor must be made poorer or they won’t work, but the rich won’t work unless they are made richer. Scotland can be better than this.

Hi @BBC_News_Labs Am I being dense, or is there really not a ‘confirm choices’ button on the BBC cookies settings page? https://www.bbc.co.uk/usingthebbc/cookies/how-can-i-change-my-bbc-cookie-settings/

Indyposterboy,

@Wen @BBC_News_Labs Very bad UI, and quite contrary to normal web protocol. Either thoughtless or designed to be opaque.

Nothing explodes the ‘only SNP members support independence’ myth of the last decade pushed by the corporate media more clearly than the fact that whilst polling seems to suggest a dent to SNP support, support for independence itself remains at or above 50%.

Why do we live in a house where next door gets to choose when we can redecorate, the colour of the paint and wallpaper and the contractor we use? Then to add further insult we have to pay when they decide to build a new kitchen or have their patio relaid.
Scottish independence. Let's make our own choices.

@IndyRichard indeed. Imagine it was the other way around? England would dissolve the union in an instant.

The Co-op Bank, of course. Why the **** they don't simply employ more call centre staff is an ongoing mystery. With branches closed and everything online, this sort of 'service' makes operating a business nigh on impossible at times.

Well that’s awkward.”

2024 general election:

  • Labour landslide in England
  • SNP lose a few seats but not as many as predicted
  • 40+ SNP MP’s ‘stand up for Scotland’
  • Labour UKgov ignore them. Completely. Of course they will.
    Can we get out of this union soon, please.

There are 650 MPs in Parliament in the UK. In Scotland at next election we will have 57. In what way, shape or form is this democratic? We have no veto and no substantial voice at Westminster. Our people have been and will continue to be ignored. Strangely the press and many others in our own country applaud our lack of a voice and raise their own voices to shout against self-determination for the people of Scotland.
Facepalm.

@IndyRichard Despite protestation by voters in England, Westminster is clearly England’s parliament.

JackTheCat, to random
@JackTheCat@mastodon.scot avatar

If voters actually get off their arses this time around do we view it as a protest vote or a vote for actual change? With incoming in englandshire, and probably Wales, it's just going to be more of the same isn't it? All the more important then that remains front and centre in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Indyposterboy,
@Indyposterboy@mastodon.scot avatar

@JackTheCat All the more important for the SNP itself to make independence the key plank. Seem to have been very wishy washy on it over the last couple of years, and that could easily lead to a ‘what the hell, if Indy isn’t important enough to the SNP I might as well vote Labour to get the Tories out’ mindset. The SNP downplays Indy at its (and our) peril.

Thousands of toads, frogs and newts are dying due to being trapped in roadside drains. They fall in, can’t get out, and either starve or drown. Volunteers rescue some, but many others die. This great idea enables easy escape for trapped amphibians.

@yianiris @raghnallborders @ferryoons Being in the UK Union and being in the EU are very different things indeed. However authoritarian you may think the EU is it is nothing, nothing in comparison to the lack of power that devolved nations in the UK are restricted to. Most importantly, any EU member can leave at any time without having to ask for permission.
